Stay safe, Joe.  Wife unit sure is nice letting you go play so much.  I think you found a 'keeper'.

Ray you are absolutely right.... I know it's a give and take in a relationship and IT TAKES A LOT to put up with me.  Sh's a great wife!  Only thing she said to me was that we don't have room for me to buy another bike so don't think about it!  As long as it's someone else buying the bike she doesn't mind me going along for the ride  cooldude

Don't worry Joe I got ya covered - there's room at my place for an extra if you buy another and need to hide it.  cooldude

James,  I wish I would have known you lived their we are coming home empty trailer.  Bike was poorly rrepresented and was in dire need off som tlc.  Front fender was hit by a bomper of a car or something an buckled the front fender beyond repair.  The seller never mentioned this an none of the pictures showed this.  The bike was kept outside and rust was starting on the backrest mount and on frame.  There was even a rock that was the size of a half dollar that was wedged between crashbar and#1 intake.  I don't know how to say this but the bike was a P.O.S and so was the seller.  It would be very dissappointing if I found out this guy was part of the vrcc an would do this to one of it's own members.

Don't waste your time looking to buy a bike in shallowater,tx....  city name should have been the first warning....  oh I pulled up online to show what a new fender cost and to split the cost he said he owned it. Outright and won't go any less.  Oh, an the hardbags had deep scratches on them an the tank paint was cracking.  So...  I will keep my eye out for my buddy he will find one sooner or later.

Wasn't his dad telling me that he was also bidding on another Valk. online? Sorry to hear that you didn't come back with the bike. At least you got to ride down there.

That sucks to go all that way just to find a POS.  Did the seller not think you would notice all the stuff wrong with the bike? What an idiot! Wish I could have checked it out for you. It would have saved you a lot of miles.

Good luck with your search.

Joe, was this the I/S advertised in the Classifieds as being in Anton?  I just check mapquest and those two towns are in spittin distance of each other.

A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

I had that happen to me several years ago.  I lived in Raleigh at the time, and wanted a Ford Falcon Ranchero.  Saw one on the internet, pics looked great.  I left out late on a Friday evening with a buddy, cashiers check (at that time a safe way to purchase) and INTENT TO BUY!!    I got to Huntsville Alabama the next morning and as I rounded the corner, thought wow!  As I got closer, I thought well!!  As I pulled in the driveway I thought crap!!

This guy thought he had a gold mine, it was low mileage, he could prove it.  But, what he had failed to mention, is that the floor boards were bondoed in, with drippings of bondo hanging down.  The exhaust gasket was leaking (common problem) and had been for so long that it had eroded the manifold.  The front wheel bearings were so loose that when I shook the tires, I really thought they would fall off!

Those are just the highlights.  The little pickup only had 84k miles on it, and he had all the paper work to prove it.  The problem was, that it had not had anything done to it in 15 years.   And he wanted a premium price for it!

I left it setting, and he could not believe it!   I wouldn't have gave 500 hundred for it!

Some people have different views of what is what is in great vs poor condition.

Joe,  If I can make a suggestion.  Post a thread on the board like I did asking for a local member to check the bike out just like you helped me with.
