Worked all weekend so wanted to get out for a ride today.  Up from desert into mountains where it is cooler.  Up about 20 miles from 100' elevation to about 4000'.  Lots of turns . . .

Stopped at lookout.

Then about 20 miles of straight road through mountains.

Passed cattle

Saw some horses

Then about 5 more miles with some tight 20-25 mph curves into Idyllwild just above a mile in elevation.

Nice day off and about 100 miles round trip.  Cool Grin cooldude Smiley

Looked like a nice ride.  Love that first stretch with the switchbacks coming up off the desert floor.

I was up Hwy # 74 out of Coachella Valley (Palm Springs and home of Coachella Festival, my daughter went, not me) to Idyllwild.

Did you eat at Joanne's?  We used to leave from Vista and ride to Idylwild or Palm Springs.Palm Springs sure feels nice in the winter.
Great riding in SoCal.  How about Hell's Kitchen on the Ortega Highway or The Hideout on 78?
One of my favorite rides was the road from Valley Center to Deluz but watch out for those streams crossing the road, they are a little slimy.  You need to pull in the clutch and coast through or shift up an extra gear and putt through.
