30 minute show about the new Buick Regal over the weekend. They ran it on the Nuremberg ring and the Autobahn and it is a decent looking sedan. They had two models, A 6speed automatic and a 6speed manual. I don't believe Buick has offered a manual since the early seventies GS Skylarks. The 6speed manual was mated to a turbo 4banger. What was really a shocker to me was that the Regal is being built in Germany and shipped to the go ol' USA.
So I stopped at the Chevy/Buick dealer for a look see and on the sticker it says that 21% of the parts for the Regal come from the USA and Canada. 40% comes from within Germany. I guess the balance come from the lowest bidder wherever they are. I read a little further and the sticker tells you that the engine comes from the USA, we ship it to them cause we're too dumb to build the car here and put it in ourselves I suppose. And just so everybody can get in on the deal the transmission comes from CHINA.
World economy or not it all sucks to me.
