Any thoughts on why I cannot open a PDF file.
All I get is crap. Anything that I should check?

Go to www.adobe.com and download/install the latest reader. Should be ok then...

Then make sure your file association for PDF files is Adobe reader...

like DavRed said there are a few other things first.

There is an exploit going around that can allow older Adobe versions to be hacked.  Have you scanned the PDF with a current antivirus program?

Next try and open a known good pdf-like a printer instruction manual or a good stored file.
If the known good file fails to read, your reader is corrupted.  Go to adobe and get a new one.

Hope this helps you.
