I am a safe rider. . . but, yesterday I went out for ride, was on freeway, no traffic, bike has been running great, cruising along about 80 mph and something just happened. I opened up throttle and went fast . . . very, very fast. Still had more to go when I backed off. Don't know what my top end is. Had done thorough check of bike before ride. It was still very smooth at high speed with good size Clearview shield. So, not that I think that kind of activity should be encouraged, how far up the speedometer have you been??

80 indicated, whatever that actually is. The occasional wrist spasm is fine with me, I just don't have straight enough, long enough and empty enough roads to enjoy them on!

Hmm, I was out riding with a friend who has a Suzuki 1800, I think it is an Intruder. He has done some work to it, and was just itching for a race. I kept telling him no, I will ride, and ride fast, but there was no sense in that crap.
Well, we had been out for 30 miles or so, we made a turn onto a long straight road that we both knew well, and he just had to blow by me. I didn't even downshift, so it took me a few seconds to catch up. As I went by him with the speedo reading about 133 mph (probably about 121 actual), and climbing, I waved.
He wasn't so mad that I passed him, but he said all he heard was my I.S. Radio blaring as I went by. BTW, the old Valk was smooth as silk even at that speed!!

I always make it a point to explore the upper limits of all my wheeled conveyances. Only do it on clear stretches of the Interstate where I know the are typically not hiding, and during times of no traffic. My '01 Valk has seen an indicated 125-130 before I chickend out from a slight oscilation. At that speed things can get ugly fast. Had more throttle to go, and got there is a short time (or so it seemed anyways). I had a '84 V-65 Sabre that I saw in excess of 150 indicated. I was braver and dumber then.

1998 Tourer with the Windshield on-------------128mph is all it would do on flat ground.
2004 ZRX1200R Kawasaki Eddie Lawson Replica---------147 and spotted what I thought was a
Sherriffs Deputy on the side of the Interstate, rolled out of it.
It would have gone faster but a highway ain't the place for that kind of chit.

97 standard, 135 indicated. National windshield. More wrist left than nerves. Come to my neck of the woods, I can take you to straight, smooth, almost level roads 8-9 miles long. Almost no traffic either. My run was from Dawn to Wilderado. 23 miles and 4 sweeping curves that you can take at 100 and not scrape the pegs.

130-135 indicated on the standard and about 120 indicated on the IS.
I had the front wheel of my nephews Busa off the ground at 100 a couple weeks ago. But only hit 140 indicated before I got out of it.
THAT bike is stOOpid fast with two O's.

124mph on GPS....just over 130 indicated.....was on a long downhill straightaway with a right hand curve at the bottom.....had just passed two hardleys and was on my way home from one of the VRCC rides.....was loaded heavy....front tire near the end of it's life.....got into a high speed wobble....the bars would have hit the tank if I hadn't been holding onto them so tightly....the bike was shaking so violently side to side that I thought I was going to end up on the side and slide through the median...took all my strength to keep the bars out of the tank....I got OFF the throttle...and on the back brake just a little.....and got my butt up off the seat.....bled the speed down and got her back under control......it SHOULD have scared the bejesus out of me, but I kept on motoring right along.... I think that at that speed on an I/S that the front end starts to lift up and get light....was also running just ahead of a storm and the wind was blowing a little bit through the valley..... Have had it to 100-115mph many times....the first day I bought it, I was running down I-75 South and on remembered that someone told me to drop her into 4th and twist the wick....I shifted into 5th at about 105 on the speedo.....Sweeeetttttt.......

Haven't seen a 100 yet on the Valk, but in my younger and dumber days on a CBR, I saw 100 nearly every time I rode and as high as 140.

Ive buried the speedo on the valk standard. that'd be the phat girl. before the fat tire. with the fat tire, 120 and the tire rubs the rear fender. thats it. LD, Ive done speedo reading 140 or so, dont know how accurate that is. maybe 125 or so. big windshield on the front, had visions of it splitting and cutting my head off so I slowed down...dont do over 70 much anymore on her. Ill twist the phat one tho. sure is fun going from 0-100 in 4 seconds. then its putt putt time just to show off.lol

Hey DavRed,
Sorry to go off thread, but looking at your pic of the speedo I see the windshield bags on your I/S. Who makes them, and did you just block the vent off?
Thanks.

Second day out on my 00 IS coming from Florida to Texas I cruised at 125 for a few miles. It was still gaining but I let up because I was still 800 miles from home. The same day I was doing 90 in the rain and a BMW passed me. Doing Im sure a 100 or faster. I figured he was braver or dumber Im not sure which. LOL I have been 135 on my 84 V65 Magna with full windshield and saddlebags. It started feeling light in the frontend and I chickened out. The Valk is smooth and fast but can't compare to the thrill of the old Magna.

Had my 2000 I/S to 130 on the speedo but the front end started getting squirrelly. Still was accelerating but the brain and survival instinct took over and I backed it off. This was on the Indian Bridge crossing the Red River - a virtual drag strip for the crotch rockets. No plans to explore the upper limits again. How fast have I gone on a Valkyrie? As fast as I wanted to.

142 MPH (GPS) on the Autobahn in Germany, but that was an effort, and it was not a whole heck of a lot of fun in the riding position.

I was visiting my family in Tennesse and my sister was looking at my GPS and noticed that my '96 Wing had been up to 136 mph. I got an earfull, now I do not forget to clear the memory, and go only the speed limit now.

When I posted this thread I forgot to put my speed down. On freeway just opened throttle all the way and hit 115 MPH on '97 Tourer. Valk was still accelerating and everything was smooth but the speed was a little scary so I just backed off down to 80. That didn't seem so fast then!

I had a great stretch on the way to work. 125 mph about once or twice a week. Everything gets very quiet and very stable.

Stock I have seen it do just over 130 indicated. Im guessing it was about 125 or so in reality. After the supercharger, I have been off the dial. After 145 indicated, I went a touch farther and she still had some left. However, I backed out of it.
