I haven't rode in may two months with sched and the ungodly heat here in Vegas, but it's starting to cool down a little and I'm getting the itch to ride. So I started up Ruby the other day and boy did she run like crap, I went down and got a can of sea foam and put it in the tank and the next day took a little ride and finished that gas and refilled and she still doesn't seem to be performing as usual, any suggestions?  she did pop real bad when I started her the second time like an explosion in the pipe or something. It seem like some is just not breaking loose,at at any speed when you back off the throttle and just kinda hold that speed not trying to increase it just seems like she is bogging, I don't know,I rode her to work the next day, maybe it just takes a little time when they sit for awhile?

If some of the jets inside the carbs are gunked up you may try a stronger additive like Techron and in higher concentration.........if it doesnt work with disolving (easy way) then its remove carbs and manually clean (hard way)   Good luck

Get some Gumout Repair FI/Carb cleaner. Supposed to be better than either Sea Foam or Techron.

There's guys on here that know a hell-of-alot more than me about these monsters but that's what my Standard sounded like when the petcock diaphram dried out and wouldn't hold vaccum. I'd peek at it before I pulled carbs. My 2 cents. Good Luck.

As hot and dry as it is there, you may want to take a look at your vacuum lines.  Might be cracked.

Only two months? Undecided...I always use premium gas cause I'm told its cleaner and last longer,I always give it a couple shots of berrymans every other tank or so,and keep her topped off, and havent had any problems..I put premium in the mowers to when I know Im not going to be running them for a while..If its cleaner Ill pay the extra 50 cents a tank...good luck..I want to go drive over the dam befor they close it!   cooldude

Rod, no matter which product you use, after putting it in the tank, I would ride it 2 or 3 miles to make sure the product has made it's way into the carbs before letting it sit overnight.  My thoughts are that just pouring it in and taking off burning it through right away, doesn't give it enough time to do it's magic.  I store both of our Valks (in the winter) with Sea Foam in the tanks and never had any problems going on 11 seasons now.  I will also add a bit halfway through the riding season.

I know the feeling... Been so hot here, I haven't ridden at all this year.  I have a trip planned this weekend to the panhandle of Texas (about 300 one way).   The ethanol gas seems to be doing wonders for clogging things this year.  I put a good bit of Berryman's in my tonight and ran it for a while.  I will drive a bit more tonight.  It did seem to help already.  Mine is not as smooth as it should be at the low end.   I did my vac lines etc. not long ago... but will probably recheck if it doesn't level out.

I am ready for cooler weather.. 107 here today.  YUCK
