Hey all,
I haven't ridden in few weeks and got her out today to ride to a doctor appointment and she was running a little rough. I thought that she just needed a few revs to get her back on her feet again. Well, that didn't seem to help either. The engine just doesn't sound right. I feel the exhaust and the left side is hot, but the right side is not. The tank is full with fresh gas. I think that I may have a fuel delivery problem to the right side bank of carbs. Anyone else have any thoughts or experience with this situation?
Appreciate it any help that is provided.
-Jim

Don't have my computer or cheatsheet (on the road)... Are there separate coils for each side ? I don't know without looking.

Open a couple drain plugs on those right side carburetors and see if you have fuel to them.. If so, then run a few heavy doses of fuel system cleaner[Sea-Foam] thru it and see if it clears up.. As far as the electrical system,, if one side is firing the other will too..

Thanks for the replies. I picked up some SeaFoam today and will check the bowls on the carbs later this afternoon to see if they are getting gas.

Put ALL of the can into the full of gas tank.
Ride it for about 5 miles
Park it in the garage till tomorrow, give the SeaFoam a chance to work.
Next day ride it as much and as far as you like.
That should clear it up.
Oh, the 5 mile ride, try to stay in the idle side of the jets. NO hard twist of the throttle

Try Gumout Regain. Used it last month and got 4-5 more mpg.

All 16 oz of it? Is there any risk to the motor running it on only 3 cylinders?

If its not fuel, it could be electrical.......I wouldnt suspect coils, there are three and all of them cross sides. BUT.....there are two ignition pulse generators that feed off of the trigger wheel. If one of them stopped working for some reason it would take out a whole bank.......just thinking out loud

Do you have a Dyna 3000? Buddy of mine had one take a crap on him on the way to Daytona a few years back. Only hitting on the right side if I remember correctly. Put the stock ignition box back on and all was well. Just a thought.

Nope, no Dyna 3000. All stock except for some chrome.

Don't think it works that way. Usually with two pulse generators, one is used to calculate RPM and the other determines crank position. I'd be willing to bet that if you disable either one, it wouldn't run at all. -RP

I don't think five miles of riding is enough to get the additive into the float bowls of the carburetors.
It may have gotten a little into the fuel galleries.
If it's mixed good in the tank you can drain the float bowls (each one) to accomplish this.
With the stock petcock there is a whole other procedure to accomplish the same!
Ride for 20 or 30 miles may do it!

There was some other thread where a MCB had reported a similar problem only to find he was riding around with all three intake risers (on the same side) loose, at the inside of the risers where it was not evident to the rider.
Pretty recent thread if I recall.
