May have been before your time. A friend of mine's Dad used to own 600 acres in what is now the Big South Fork Recreation area. He bought the land in the '30's and made a hunting lodge there. There had been 30 some families living on the land he bought. They left behind some nice log cabins made of poplar logs up to two feet wide. Dan remembers moving several from their original location and re-assembling them at the lodge. His Dad imported some Barbarosa sheep and some other kind of sheep for his clients to hunt. The big draw was the wild boar which were native in the beginning. Later on he would send Dan (my friend) to Florida to get more boar because they had killed off the native population.
Dan was showing us some cool pics of the lodge this week. Beautiful country. You had to travel 25 miles of gravel/dirt road to get to the lodge. There were two natural arches on the property.
I know we've ridden by or thru some of that area on some of your rides.

Still today that area has several hunting clubs I've seen the signs for them. We've rode through that area a few times when you was with us. Big South Fork is awesome country with some outstanding roads for the art of motorcycling.Saw you called today we was out ridin'  check my ride report out when I get it up  cooldude

Ronnie,

Last weekend I was up north of Rosman.

Hwy 281 all the way over to 107 is a hoot. Will kick yer ass if you don't pay attention.

215 is being repaved on the south side of the mountain.

HubcapSC had posted on here that 281 was now paved all the way. Lookin' forward to getting up there.
Found it a couple yrs ago and was digging the crap out of it when it turned to gravel. Rode it out to 64. Big mistake. If I remember correctly it was near 5 miles of gravel with some rut filled switchbacks.
Anyway, thanks for the heads up Paul.  cooldude
