Here is an actual letter from a Doctor to the President of the United States of America.

Dear Mr. President:

During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had   the   pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.

While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that   her payer status was listed as "Medicaid"! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.

And, you and our Congress expect  me to pay for this woman's health care?  I contend that our nation's "health care crisis" is  not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or  nurses. Rather, it is the result of a "crisis   of culture",  a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on  luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance.  It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me".

Once you fix this  "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.

        Respectfully,

        STARNER JONES,  MD  cooldude

This is exactly what I have observed in the pharmacy business for the last 15-20 years.  Not in all cases, of course, but in a large percentage of them.  Yes, it is a cultural problem, fed by the nanny state which pays individuals to not work.  Also, a huge percentage of these individuals are vastly overweight and many are diabetic.  Could it be from beer and too much TV?  Sorry, but I really don't have the answer to this problem without causing a lot of other problems.  Any suggestions?...JTL

How would this fly in the U.S. ?

A difficult solution would be to consider Sugar, and Saturated fat drugs, and not food.  Foods high in sugar content, including high fructose corn syrup would have to be regulated by the FDA with much lower amounts of Sugar and Saturate fat allowed.

Cigarettes and Cigars have been proven to be very hazardous to ones health and should be banned; they are also a fire hazard.

There are ways to get around the aforementioned regulations, but we need to start somewhere because this nation is full of FAT kids and adults.  We won't be able to pay for their health problems brought on by eating fattening foods and smoking poison.

The French are skinny why does America have to by ugly fat?

I do not like this Uncle Sam,

I do not like his health care scam.

I do not like these dirty crooks,

or how they lie and cook the books.

I do not like when Congress steals,

I do not like their secret deals.

I do not like this speaker Nan ,

I do not like this 'YES, WE CAN'.

I do not like this spending spree---

I'm smart, I know that nothing's free.

I do not like your smug replies,

when I complain about your lies.

I do not like this kind of hope.

I do not like it. nope, nope, nope!

Go green - recycle Congress in 2010!
