About 4 weeks ago I had a car turn left in front of me forcing me to brake which caused my rear tire to lock up and skid. I was able to keep the bike upright and control the skid but the belt in the tire busted causing the tire to go flat. This all occurred 35 miles from my home and was shortly before I was to move my family into a new home.
Joe (Stude31) heard about what happened and offered to allow me to bring the bike to his home for repair. As his home was only 5 miles from where the bike was I took him up on the offer. I went and picked up a new tire (I am now darksiding with a goodyear TT) and we proceeded to replace the tire. Once we removed the pumpkin we found that the driveshaft and pinion cup were damaged and needed to be replaced. Joe wasted no time in finding parts for me and we ordered them - only to have them back-ordered for a week. Joe allowed me to keep my Valk in his garage - tying up his lift and space for nearly 3 weeks. While we were waiting on the parts he also proceeded to do the nut cage mod for me and to cut the seat bracket to allow a tail light install for a super valk conversion. While I was on hand for most of the repairs Joe jumped in and handled many of them himself - teaching me along the way how to properly lube the rear end and replace a rear tire.
Thanks to Joe I now have my Valk back and in better condition than it was before the near accident. Joe I can't thank you enough for all of the kindness you have shown me. We had barley even met prior to all of this and for you to open up your life to me to allow me a safe refuge for my bike - I can't even think of how to show you my gratitude.
Stude 31 is a good person and a stand up guy - if you ever find yourself with an oportunity to meet this amazing man I encourage you to do so - you won't be disapointed.

Thanks again Joe - now lets go ride!  cooldude

Welcome tybme, to the club of those that have had Joe pull them out of a tight spot. There are a lot of us that are members of THAT club.  Myself included.
Good on ya' Joe!

Alright I don't normally post after someone praises my efforts but I just want to say thank you and I know and hope that anyone of us VRCC members would answer the call when the spirit knocks to help someone out.   I too have been a recipient of some good grace from a fellow VRCC member (Pharmboy),  he has shown me from the word GO how to open your doors to help someone out.

I try not to post when someone calls out what I have done for them.  I normally just send a private message or a text message to let them know that it is very humbling to hear the kindness that some speak.  I am not one to "gleam" in the lime light.  But on behalf of my wife and I, I just want to say that this is a true trickle down effect.

I was raised poor (didn't know it at the time), and my dad was vital in teaching me it is better to give than to receive.  My first lesson in this was when dad told me to mow our elderly  neighbors yard and to do it as a favor.  Well I did and he gave me a soda and a candy bar and I was thrilled... only to walk across the street and see my dad with his arms folded.  He asked what I had... I told him and he said that if you do one a favor you don't get anything in return.  "It isn't about you, Joe".  So I took it back to my neighbor and told him that I didn't mow your yard to get paid.   So that was a lesson I will never forget that my pops did for me.

One of my favorite movies all time was "Pay it forward".  I try to live my life like this but there are times that I fail just like the rest of us.  It is truly a pleasure to have met so many good folks here on the board and out and around.

I look forward to meeting many of you guys again and catch some wind.  Hope everyone is enjoying their day.
