I as many other of you I am wanting to add a fairing to my Tourer. The Interstate fairing and all the accouterments is WAY to expensive. I wanted something that I could:
1. Add a stereo system to so it had to have an inner shell.
2. I wanted to be able to custom paint it.
3. Relatively inexpensive aka CHEAP
4. Something that I could do over time.
5. Something that I could swap out with a regular clear windscreen for those hot summer months
when a bit more air is nice.
So here is what I have come up with so far.
I bought a fiberglass fairing to fit a HD Road King. Same size headlight. Same width on the forks within about 1/2 inch.
I tried the Speedo/Tach relocation to the handle bars. NOT!!! I have a 6 inch riser/pullback and the speedo cable is just about an inch too short. If it were longer the inner shell of the fairing would touch the back of the tach/speedo making it set too high and too far forward.
So I am back to mounting the tach/speedo in the fairing itself.
I had a Rifle windscreen mounted before and still have the brackets so the mounting the fairing to the bike part is pretty much worked out. Here is what I have so far.
