When riding in hot weather when it is in the '90s like today, my Tourer's idle is about 2000 rpm when I let off of the throttle then slowly comes down to around 1200 then it is somewhat erratic.  In cooler weather, it is slow to come down to 1000.  As far as I know, the bike is stock except for Cobra pipes and Pingel petcock.

Is it time for a desmog?  Your thoughts will be appreciated.

Thx

Sounds like bad vacuum lines/caps and/or intake manifold o-rings.

It's always a good time for a de-smog!

I think the main thing is the carbs are out of synchronization.

Mine did the same thing.  Adjust the idle back when it is hot.  Also, dirty slow jets contributed to my problem.
