Hit a sandtrap pulling into a gas station at the only light on Route 17W in Liberty, NY on the way to pick up my daughter in camp. Pulling the trailer and maybe doing 8 mph with a slight lean to the right and two fingers on the front brake, the front brake locked up when it hit the sand. I laid her over as gentle as I could and rolled off. Cracked the highway peg off, scuffed the engine guard, and skinned my wittle knee. That's it, no other damage or even a scratch. Couple of guys ran over and helped me get her up on the kickstand. She started right up and no issues for the rest of the day, except that my foot kept looking for the peg that wasn't there.
I was amazed at how much sand there was at that entrance to the gas station. Like hitting the sand trap on the third hole. Was 2 inches thick in places. I told the station employee and he blamed it on the construction company doing work on the road.
All's well that ends well!

Happy to hear your OK. I went down Sat. TWICE ! Both times a very low speed. About 300 feet from home making a slow left, hit sand and water; I was able to pick it up myself. Scratched/dented the engine guard, landed in puddle and banged up my elbow. Feeling more dumb than hurt, I changed clothes and rode from LI NY to Candlewood Lake Ct. I was in a parking lot making slow right going up hill, lost it and went down. Broken the light on Cobra light bar, scratched/dentd engine guard bruised my right foot. I needed help picking it up this time. The ride home was not much fun. I have been riding more than 20 years and never even droped a bike before. Just a bad day I guess?
Glad to hear your OK.

Gary and Bwanna sorry to hear of your mishap. Gman I was wondering where you were while BIGMACNJ and I were riding around Orange county I still have the address for pegs from when I dropped the bike in front of my house this spring but I sent Skinhead the extra peg as he also needed one. Bwanna hope to ride with you soon. I think you are near NY TAz, I am the NY Rep and am out riding most weekends in either NY or CT and commute often to the Bronx by mortorcycle, either the beemer or the Valk. Email me at Ossvalk@gmail.com any time you want to ride up this way. Also every Sunday is Marcus Dairy in Danbury CT breakfast meet and greet a hundred or so bikes and then a ride somewhere, usually folks get there by 9am Go on the regional boards for New England VRCC and you will find some great people.

Gary, Glad it wasn't too bad......always bad when it happens, but if you can look back and say, "no issues....." that's a good thing. I remember I dumped the third day I had my Valk.....with Judy on the back.....it's a wonder she ever rode with me again!! Hope to ride with you guys again soon!!

Glad to hear both members are okay after going over. I too experience this a couple of weeks ago while on a charity poker ride with my 13 year old daughter. She was navigating and we missed a turn. I found a huge dirt parking lot to turn around. I came to complete stop (extra cautious with daughter on back) when for some reason I could not hold the bike up. I told my daughter i was going over and she jumped off and over i went. She was okay, I was okay and the valk was okay not scratch. I proceeded to pick the bike up using the butt method in the seat and surprised how easy it came up. At this time a fellow biker came over to help and being on the wrong side (forgot to put the kick stand down) asked him to put the stand down. while putting the stand down he bent the bar (the one with the ball on the end). I appriciate his help and thought no big deal on the minor damage it can be fixed.
I wish I could say that this was the end of the story but sadly not. We remount the valk to continue the poker ride and i came up on our first left hand sweeper curve at about 50 mph as i began the turn i heard the scaping of the kick stand extension which was preventing me from leaning the bike over to make the turn. I lean as hard as i could but saw that we were not going to make the corner. i ended up going off the road and luck was with us as we did not hit any ruts but daughter was half in the seat and out because how rough it was. I was able to keep control of the valk and stopped at nearest turn off in which i had tools to bend the extension back into it correct position.
I have been riding bikes on road off road for better than 30 years and should of known better to have fix the bent bar when it happened and not assumed it was okay. I hope my stupidy helps someone in the future
