Author Topic: Texas State Ride-In ANNOUNCEMENT!  (Read 6231 times)

« on: August 24, 2010, 01:30:49 PM »

After exhaustive discussions, phone calls, and polls, the Texas State Ride-In is formally announced:

When:  October 8, 9, and 10
Where: YO Ranch, Kerrville, Texas
Why: Because we can.
Who: Everyone who can
How: On two wheels, of course!

OK, for the more informative section:
We have a block of 30 rooms per night at the YO Ranch in Kerrville, Texas.  Check in is October 8, check out is October 10.  The cost is averaged out to 90 dollars per night.  We will have a dinner location arranged for Friday and Saturday, and one or more rides set up for Saturday.  Details for these activities will come out as they are planned.
I had been looking for a place in Fredericksburg, as per popular acclaim, but there is nowhere to be had.  There was nowhere that had the number of rooms that we need.
As suggested in my poll, the weekend and location both were driven by availability more than anything.  The YO on that weekend was truly my only option, after having called countless hotels in multiple towns.

The block of rooms at the YO should be available for booking as of right now, and are listed under "Texas VRCC".  Go ahead and call for your reservation.  The remaining rooms will be released on September 13, so book before then.  Address and phone number follow:
Y.O. RANCH RESORT HOTEL
2033 Sidney Baker
Kerrville, Tx 78028
830-257-4440

Feel free to PM/email me with questions.

The only weekend of the 3 I can't make - I have the Corps of Cadets invading my house that weekend for the Fighting Texas Aggie game against Arkansas at Cowboys Stadium.  We did this last year and Squadron S-1 asked to come again this year.  And that's the weekend.

No problem on that.  I plan to have two groups on the rides.  The "relaxed" group, and the "spirited" group.  That should help keep people from feeling pushed, and keep it safe and fun for everyone.

The only weekend of the 3 I can't make.

Sorry to hear that.  At least we'll be dry, though.

Just made my reservation.  I hope you all don't mind, but I asked my father to join us.  He has a GW and is the previous owner of my Valk, so I figured he would qualify.  Wink

Sounds good.  We haven't turned anyone away from a Valkyrie event yet, even if they show up on a Spyder.  (:

The long range forecast is in!
http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/fitness/tenday/USTX0689

Highs in the upper 70's, lows in the upper 50's.  Sunny.
Sounds pretty ideal to me!!!

I really need the time away, and was looking forward to it, BUT still having trouble with knee (swellling/walking/sitting with it down), and certainly cant hold a bike up.  Please have loads of fun, and post lots of pics
