Scenario- One of the big 3 bike rallies. 1% club has a booth. You find a spot to park on a public city street and take it. Patch holder says 'move it, such & such parking only'. No sign. Do you move it or leave it? One of the boards I frequent, this is a topic. Only cause I say I would leave it. He has no right to tell me not to park on a public street without a permit for special parking. I'm not a big guy but will hold my ground. I dont get shoved around by intimidation. They mess my scoot up so be it, its insured. Everyone else wussed out and would move their bike and called me a wanna be. Which was so close to setting me off! I've talked to 1%er's before, about scraped with some, and step mom rode with some for a few years. Show them respect and they will show you respect.

Philosophically, I would stand my ground and not move my bike...
Realistically, there are things worth fighting, killing and dying for, and a parking space just ain't one of 'em...
My answer would be at a higher level, I wouldn't be at the event in the first place... I have no desire to mingle with such people, and avoid such events as a general rule of thumb...

I'd move it. Not a big deal to me. I have plenty of oomph behind me and really dont worry much about "situations". I'm not into the confrontation aspect and if its a big deal to him, OK, its not to me. I've been too many places looking for trouble in the Navy. Dont need it here.

Depends a little on my mood I guess. I might be liable to not move it, but stay close enough to SEE it so that I could get involved if need be. Sort of depends how many of them there are too.
I tend to stay away from stuff like that too.

Have to go with Serk on this one. Even though my bike is insured I would not enjoy the day worrying if my bike was being vandalised.

It would depend on my mood at the time. And, if there was additional parking close by.

Number one I would avoid those places. But I live in the middle of Daytona Bike Week in Florida, and so it could happen. Mess with my family, and you are dead! However, this is not worth hasseling over. Now, if I was having a bad day, and my temper got the best of me, I might either get arrested, or carried (physically) away. I guess that's why I choose to stay away when I can!!!

Before the kids were born, I would have left it there and sat on it waiting for some fun...now? Just a parking spot...A valk is no harley, meaning not easy to buy a new one, I would prefer to keep mine original. So I would move on.

This situation is similar to right-of-way on the road. If a larger vehicle cuts you off, you are generally better to move out of its way rather than stand your ground. Like many have said, you need to put it into perspective as to how important that parking space is.

I'd move the bike if I was asked. As someone said, their world, their rules.
If they wanted to take my bike, they'd need to take my life first, in particular if I was alone and responsible for no one else. Most days, a parking spot wouldn't be worth killing or dying over unless it was my property.

as heavy as the biker traffic is here, I am used to parking where I please. no, I am not a really big guy, 6'3, 255 lbs. but, I aint afriad of any man walking. And I know at least 1 person of importance at evry bar around here so, I'd tell him no. I wouldnt move it. and we have many clubs that frquent here. and 1%'ers dont scare anyone only because there are still more of us "everyday folks who ride" than them. Besides, the bars I go to, the most popular biker bars in the area, I know the owners very well. gotta keep the connections open. If I were in daytona or sturgis or someplace like that, without knowing who would be with me??I might think about it. I do not carry a gun. I know my temper. dont even own one. But, if it were like wildwood or myrtle beach or johnstown, nah, I would not move it there either. totally depends on the situation, location and the amount of dependable peeps I ride in with...

I simply would not put myself in that situation. Life is too short. My testosterone level does not increase while on a bike. 1% implies the percent of rational thinking that the patch bearer possesses. My concern about resisting is my bikes general health while I'm gone. Insurance or not, can you really replace your Valk?

What is it worth to you? Is it worth going to jail for the rest of your life.
True story, I use to work medical in a Idaho Prison. Met an inmate who is in jail for 2nd degree murder after a parking lot scuffle. The guy fell and hit his head on a car and dies three days later.
Figure out what is important to you and what you have to lose. Then jump on in there and be the man. Just be ready to look like a dumb ass after. Alcohol consumption increases your odds of looking like a dumb ass.
Good luck controling your ego. DW

I'd move it, no question. Too small a thing. If they asked nicely, such as "we're trying to hold spots for our members" it would be no problem. If they said "get that Jap crap out of here - real motorcycles only" it would be fine too since they are either drunk, insane and/or a member of a Harley cult. Anything in-between and I'm moving it, too.
Seems more likely that no one would say anything and you would simply return to find your Valk trashed or pushed out into the street and out of the spot. I'd much rather someone tell me that I can't park there than showing me why afterwards.
How to respond to the request? "I'm sorry, I should have seen the oil stains on the ground and known it was a Harley only parking spot."

I also worked in a prison for many years in Ocala Fl. 60 miles from daytona. I had a biker on my case load who was in prison for attempted murder, 20 years. He got in an arguement outside of the Boothill and was punched out by what he called a real biker. Once he got up he followed the guy into the bar and shot him. He was a bad shot and hit him in the shoulder, hence attempted murder and 20 years instead of life, I use to run the scared straight tour for juveniles on probation and he would talk to them. He always said he wished he had just walked away. He served 14.5 of the 20 years.

Thx guys. This is more of 'what would you do' kinda thing. It didnt happen to me but made me think when I saw it happen to another guy. If they would have asked politely, I would move. I've parked in front of club owned bars without a problem before.
Like I stated before, I've met quite a few over the years, partied and drank with alot of them, and my step mom rode with some. Show them respect and they will respect you. Much as you would anyone.

I have a broad vocabulary and appropriate lines for almost any occassion. That one just seems to be appropriate lately for Big Al on multiple occassions.
I will start using ditto. It will make it easier for you to read, but still make the point.
