If anybody ever asks why be a member of the VRCC, here's one reason why...

Last week I came across a set of Valkyrie pipes on Craig's List located in Pearland.  Spoke with the seller, he sounded like a real nice guy and he sent me some better pictures - headers and everything looked pretty good, but I live in Driftwood and was actually working in Temple.  Knowing Hayhauler Jimmy lived not too far away I shot him a personal message..."I can go by and look this afternoon after work."

I think we spoke on the phone once and then texted.  Well, to make a long story short, Jimmy liked the way the pipes looked and paid the guy for me.  He then went back and picked them up and has had them in his truck for the past week!  (Come to find out Jimmy and the seller had one of those "it's a small world" moments that I hope he can explain in a post.)

Today I was in the Houston area visiting my Stepdad and met up with Hayhauler and BJ for lunch.  We had a good visit.  First, the pipes are in near perfect condition and second, Jimmy bought me lunch!  I mean...I think I should have bought them lunch, but somehow it got reversed!...he insisted!  At least he let me pay him back the $150 he fronted for the pipes!

So, Thank You Hayhauler! cooldude

You really do meet the nicest people on a Honda!....

First of all, Charlie is a great guy and fun to be around, so it was no problem getting these pipes for him.  Heck it was about a mile off of my pathway home.  I was riding the bike, so what the heck...an excuse to ride a little further...

The story comes in after I called Charlie and told him that the pipes were in A++ shape and I was going to pay for them and come back later in the BWD (big white Dodge) to pick them up.  The seller, his wife Annette, and I got to talking about my Valk.  I told them that it was my brother's bike, how he had discovered that he had Cancer, was too weak to ride, and needed the money.  I told them that it was Gene's bike, the owner of Pasadena Honda's bike before it was my brother's.  They both said in unison, "so, what is your brother's name again???"  I told them it was Scott, Scott Turner...

Well, as stories would have it, they used to RIDE WITH MY BROTHER and his wife all the time, on their Valk, around Houston and on charity rides!!!  They knew all of Scott's in-laws and some of our other kinfolks...he sold the Valk and was bikeless for a while, then bought a Harley.  He wrecked it pretty bad on 225 one evening, got the insurance money, and hasn't ridden since... we talked for about an hour and then I left to go get the BWD.

He had these pipes on the top shelf in his garage, in the box that the Cobra pipes came in that he replaced them with.  Judging by the condition of the pipes, he probably only had a couple thousand miles on them...

It was good to see you again today Charlie.  You're welcome here anytime.

It is a REALLY SMALL WORLD out there..
