Got a double header tonight. Shot one digging up the front yard, turned around and there was another on on the edge of the woods. Buzzards are going to feast tomorrow!

What's a good QUIET way of getting those little Sh*ts??? I got one in my back yard that I can't seem to get to with a bat. He keeps running under my shop where I can't get a swing. Also, I'm in a subdivision, where firing a gun a frowned upon. I'm VERY close to going buy a single shot .22 rifle and load it with a short. That won't be much more noise than a BB gun. I just don't have a rifle that'll work with shorts, and I hate to buy one for this ONE use. Maybe I can keep my bow near the back door... that MIGHT work if I can get ready and open the door without spooking him.

It was easy there, lots of obstacles. You can't bait them, you have to "funnel" them. I'd put a couple of long 1" x 10" boards and funnel them into the box trap. They like to run along fences or houses. Here, there is too much open space they have a couple of acres of lawn to dig up unobstructed. So, when I see the diggins I go hunting. The Buzzards love me. I'd be afraid I'd loose an arrow, they really haul a$$ when they get shot.

Coincidently I shot one and missed one tonight and also shot one last night. I don't know why - with vacant land - several hundred acres around me that they have to come into my yard and dig around everywhere. Like you when I see the evidence I just tour around the place after dark and make buzzard food. Chris

I think hunting is fine if you eat what you kill. In this case, buzzards gotta eat too. Plug away guys.

I use super colobri ammo, it is a primer charge only 22 long rifle with a 20 grain bullet. It won't cycle a semi auto but you can cycle it yourself and use it as a single shot. Makes no more noise that a pellet gun and I have been using it for the past 10 years. Other than fewer critters in the yard and garden the neighbors never notice or hear a thing.

When I lived in south Louisiana, I had a lot of trouble with them. I used a trap and relocated several. By placing it next to a fence or the house, they would walk right in.

It is not legal to relocate dillios in Florida. They are "invasive species" the law says they must be euthanized. I'm not a law breaker.

CCI used to make 22 short "mini-caps" that were very quiet in a long barreled (24") rifle. Used the 29gr bullet. Grandfather shot a few "dillos" with them, neighbors never knew. got a few crows also
Think remington makes a quiet round also, but not near as quiet as the CCI's used to be.

Had about 12 guests for dinner. Kind of a poor turn out, I'll bet tomorrow, once the word gets out, there will be a solid 20 dinner guests. Then they will "stop by" for days waiting for more. A litle off subject, but these pics made me remember a funny story. As a kid growing up in central Florida I did a lot of hunting, birds, deer, hogs, almost anything. I went out with my dad before sunrise one morning with about 15 other hunters to surround a "turkey roost" somone knew about. Not supposed to start shooting before sunrise. You could see LOTS of big birds in the trees. One took off before sunrise, someone started shooting, sounded like an all out war. When sun came up we had about 30 buzzards littering the ground. What a mess.
