My simple post about riding to meet Gear Jammer on Sunday turned into a great group ride.  Let's see what this does.

The Texas Rally is Sept. 9-12 on Lake Somerville near Lyons.  It is a Hawaii themed rally and the folks really get into the theme.  There will be a pig roast and free luau party on saturday night with enough pulled pork and trash can punch to make a party.  Gallagher with his sledg-o-matic will put on his comedy on saturday night as well.  We are leaving about 4pm from Terrell on friday to make the 4 hour ride to the lake.  Part of our group is going on down early on friday to stake out a campsite.  We will camp from friday night til sunday morning when we will break camp and ride home.  Anybody wanting to join us for the ride is welcome to do so.  Camping rules are, if you wanna sit on it, sleep in it, eat it, or drink it, you bring it. Rally cost is $40 for the weekend and that includes the concerts and sat night meal.  They will have about 50 vendors. Expecting about 600 participants.  I have no financial interest in this.  It is always a good time. However, if you don't want to see a bunch of hairy bikers in grass skirts, you might skip this one, hehe. L

Hey Cutter, look for the 99 orange/black std, the 03 black std, and the Rebel 250 trike.  That's about the coolest trike I have seen.  We will share a cold one with you. Larry

We might make it up Saturday afternoon. Just depends on the wife and whether or not the daughter decides to go into  labor  or not. She's getting real close to her due date. cooldude

Sorry to tell you Bubbles, but it's past Labor Day.  coolsmiley
Seriously though, congrats on the pending grandfatherhood.
If this is your first, then hang on. You're in for the best ride of your life. All of the pleasures of parenthood with almost none of the hassels. And, you're more mature and able to enjoy it in a way you never could when your kids were still little. You also get the chance to do everything right with the grandkids that you did wrong with your kids.
Lastly, you get to watch your kids have to put up with their kids. Evil
Remember the grandparents moto. "Spoil em' and send em' home."

Already got one that's 4, she'll be the older sister.  The twins are due Oct 20th but the doctor says anytime now as they're over 5lbs each already. We're in the hurry up and wait mode. cooldude

Franco, the place will be a ghost town by 9am Sunday morning.  Nothing scheduled except the CMA church services.  The "party" will last til about 3am Sunday and then people start packing up and leaving by 7a.  It is a beautiful ride but nothing going on at the rally at that time. L
