I wonder what the damage is, nothing is apparent in the photos.  It seems like he must want to unload it in a hurry by the asking price.

"Slight cosmetic damage" typically translates to "dropped it in the parking lot" which usually means busted turn signals, bent/broken clutch and/or brake levers, light scratches and maybe even a small dent or two.

But - you're right - I don't see any of that in the pics.  Hmm  ???

I'm surprised S. Steamer hasn't jumped on it yet as I assume it is in his back yard (Athens, GA).

Was laid down in a ditch.

60,000 miles.

Tach is cracked but works.

Some "cosmetic" scratches on the gas tank.

Ditto what Britman said. Plus it appears the headlight is damaged.

Made contact. About 70 miles away Athens TN.
I am going to look at it tomorrow at 10:00 AM.

More later.

Ok here is the report on the 2000 Valk:

First NOT 60,000 but 90,000 miles. He told Britman and myself(2) that it had 60,000 miles the speedo showed 90443.

Engine cranked, idled, fine, but has a light miss at 2000 to 2500 steady throttle.
I did not ride the bike as after seeing it I knew I would not buy it. Dont like to ride other folks bike if I am not serious about buying it or working on it.

Needs the following to bring it back:
Tach bucket, tach works but bucket broke, lens gone.
Headlight ring, dented,  usable if you do not mind a big dent.
Right and Left mirrors - missing and bent.
Front brake master cylinder  - bad road rash  - still holds fluid
Scrape on the tank, top right, about the size of a silver dollar  -  not dented
Inside of the tank ok with some light darkening and minor rust sprinkles
12 to 15 5 inch scratches on the front fender - not dented.
A really good buff and touch up man, could make then look a lot better.
Needs right and left crash bars  -- bent, scraped and ground down
Right valve cover has a hole punched in it from a riding peg  - patched with epoxy
Rear turn signals  -  needed complete  - tag bracket, lights and extensions
Back rest pad cover -- cover scraped all the way thru in several places
Luggage rack looked ok
Needs front and rear tires  - both almost slick, badly worn
4 inch slash cut pipes with the piggies cut  - at least 1 bad chrome spot 1/2 inch on the right pipe
Right side header badly dented and gouged on at least 2 pipes  - need to replace
Driver pegs replaced with Cobra floor boards - average condition
Has a tank bib with 2 pockets - average condition
Had leather saddle bags, after market, did not recoganize the maker, held on with threaded bolts from the inside of the fender stays.  - condition ok, need to fix mounting
Had brake light chrome trim
Two real small turn signals on rear fender lip - after market white lens
Badly needs a wash job before identifying any more paint issues  -- appeared to be some scrubs and scratches.
Wheels would have to be polished, as they are stained badly especially the rear
Had large chrome chain license plate bracket attached to rear fender curved to match fender
The front forks MAY or may not be ok, looked a little out of line -- were not leaking

Overall condition seems to indicate the bike was not well cared for even before the ditch.

If one had the parts and it rides out ok it would be worth bringing back. But if one has to buy the parts then the cost of the bike and the parts would mean you would have more in it than it would be worth. Just my humble opinion.

If someone wants to persue this and needs help let me know, I have no interest at $3500.
