intake runner vacuum lines cut on 1,5,& 2

Why are the vacuum lines to the base of the intake runner cut and plugged on cylinders 1, 5, & 2?
I found that with the spark plug covers off.

because those ports are not needed/used for anything.......if they werent plugged theyd be "vacuum leaks"

Not quite accurate you use there ports if you want to sync your carbs but in normal running they don't need anything connected to them, make sure the caps are good and not perished / cracked though.

That would seem logical but does not usually apply in my opinion.  Otherwise I would think that there would be one ICM, one set of carb springs, one fuel tank, etc.
