Bigguy, well put.

Bobby, you really need to make it one of our secret meetings, we really aren't that bad.

T-Roy, sorry.

KerryNolan, welcome to the family.

Rainmaker, you can stop now.....or at least come over and help with the Ark!

You could say "They ain't pretty cheap or They ain't pretty either".

My feelings exactly....but, to each his own......DON"T DO IT CHUCK....did i say that out loud????
I took the time to read all the post on the rotor covers, and offer my appology to
Houdini as I was the one who lit the torch. I never condem anyone for what they might want to add to their bike, again my appology.

P.S. Godfire, don't help me out anymore, unless it is on a roadside breakdown.LOL

No problem 99.  The biggest issue here is I will never be able to tease anybody on the board without someone bringing up this incident.

Dang it!

Well, I still think that [insert your favorite accessory here] makes your bike ugly, and ruins the handling, and makes the engine run like crap.

[Sorry, folks, the preceding was all too "warm fuzzy" for a motorcycle board.  I had to put a stop to it.]

I heard that if you put front rotor covers on you're gonna die a flaming death. You can't drive on the front rotor cover!

Maybe in the afterlife, all Valkyries are fuel injected!
Hey, does anyone have any rotor covers I can drive on?

Duh!  Everyone knows it's car tires on motorcycles that cause flaming death! ... Except on black Valk's; they're so fast they put the flame out and death can't keep up.

OK Fine!  For the next four hours we'll all pretend that the blues are the fastest.  We'll resume reality about 8 PM tonight.    Grin

So, what color? Well, these guys are riding high revving, multi-cylinder machines, so we need a fast color.
“What’s a fast color,” you ask. The short answer is red or yellow. And there is actually some scientific basis for such a claim. It turns out that red, orange, and yellow photons have longer wavelengths that allow them to travel slightly faster through air than colors with shorter wavelengths, such as green or blue. This only applies if you’re a photon, traveling close to the speed of light, but that’s just nit-picking. Besides I believe that some of the guys try to reach those speeds, so the rule still applies.
But science aside, there is a lot of friendly debate on the fastest color. Some like the hot colors, the reds and yellows, while other go for the cool ones, the blues, greens, and purples. I suppose it depends on whether you want your bike to look “Hot,” or “Cool.”

Speaking as a physicist and optical engineer, yes, the red may be slightly faster (if certain conditions are met).  The speed is proportional to the difference in index of refraction from wavelength to wavelength (color to color).  The difference in index of refraction from 633 nm (red) to 475 nm (blue) is 0.0006%.
However, when talking about ENERGY (energy => power!), the difference goes the other direction.  A blue photon is ~33% more energetic than a red photon.  No conditions.  It is a fundamental fact of quantum science.

I'll take 33% more energy over 0.0006% more speed.

Good point there Rocketman. However it strikes me that a John Deere 9630T is also more powerful than a red or yellow Valkyrie.

Don't think I'd want to race a Valkyrie on one though. Wink

Not more powerful.  Green is lower energy than blue.  If you can develop that UV paint, then you've got something!

Me thinks that the John Deere, no matter what color and even with chrome rotor covers, would do a number on a Valk in a tug of war contest. Cheesy

It's just a matter of traction.  Put a fat enough car tire on a blue Valkyrie, and ...
Oh, crap.  I just got into that argument, too.
