Hay Guys as a new member I'm trying to figure this out, its my first post. Anyway the question Ihave is I noticed alot of you use Sea Foam. How does this compare to Stabile for the winter months. How much Sea Foam should I use on my 5 1/2 gal 98 Standard? Please bare with me I'm an old retired guy and a little dumb about these things Thank You! Linedog

Seafoam is also a fuel stabilizer but it's claim to fame is as a fuel system/carb cleaner. Stabil is what you use to store the bike (Seafoam would be also be good to add), but seafoam is what you use when the bike has been sitting and you now want to clean up the system. Note that last year Stabil came out with a much stronger Marine grade stabilizer, which I keep in my (full) tanks in the Winter. I ride all year, but much less in Winter. I'm more inclined to use seafoam periodically during the riding season, or right before I will do maintenance like new plugs, synchronize carbs, etc.
As for amounts, read the directions on the bottles. One oz per gal equals five ounces in a five gal tank. I stabilize a whole (full) tank of gas in Winter, but usually use a strong dose of seafoam in a half tank right to a freeway ride during the riding season.

Welcome aboard!!! I regularly use Sea Foam in my Valk, Guzzi and lawn mowers. In the Valkyrie I'll add a quarter a can to every 2nd or 3rd tank. Nothing wrong with adding an ounce or so of Stabil along with the Sea Foam if you won't be riding for a few weeks.
All the best,
Mark

Been doing it for many years. My 1st use of Sea Foam was in Daytona at Bike Week one year. Got some shitty gas out in the boonies.

I found my Valkyrie will run just fine on Seafoam and nothing else.
I add a little Corn Licker or Moon Shine and no gasoline.
It has good power but when I rev it up I can hear the Ocean instead of exhaust note.
Really.
Come on people, gas these days has in it all you need including rust inhibitors and the like.
Any thing else you add is Snake Oil and if you studied it, ruins your gas mileage.
Stabil is the only product I use to keep gas stabil longer and that's it.
All the rest is snake oil and most of us know it.
STP Black bottle says it has Jet Fuel as a additve.
Jet Fuel is a high grade of kerosene.
Wake up and smell the additives and you find they are a huge waste of money.

Gas in the Boonies was probably water contaminated and a little rubbing alcohol would have fixeed that
at about 89 cents and only a quarter a bottle would do it so for 25 cents you could have fixed the
problem.

WD 4o would do better for Carb Cleaning with the carbs off,
It will also take the tar off your paint on your vehicles and leave a lasting rust prohibitive on items if left to dry after being sprayed.
Save some money on tire dressing, use motor oil a few times after washing the tire buffing with
a oil soaked wrag and then
after a few times of doing that your merely have to buff them to make them shine.
Better than Armor All and much cheaper.
Never use Armor All or any other dressing on motorcycle tires unless you like road rash.

Holy Cow!! Some of you guys add anywhere from a quarter of a can to a full can of this stuff every 3 or 4 tanks? WOW! Why? Do you do the same thing for your cars & trucks? I have added an ounce or two maybe twice a year if the bike hasn't been ridden much and I guess the gas is rotten. But more than that and I'm with Big Al on this one.

Jess mentioned a new, higher grade Stabil. I'm not familiar with that, but can tell you that the regular Stabil will go bad over time. Seafoam doesn't seem to do that. I also find Seafoam to be a better fuel stabilizer than Stabil. I mix Seafoam in every can of my lawnmower gas, which also fuels my power washer, chain saws, leaf blower, etc. Some of these machines will sit idle for over a year with this Seafoam mixture, and they always start right off, as though the gas were bought yesterday. I use it in the Valk also- as a stabilizer in the fall, and a carb cleaner in the spring. As a stabilizer, I use 1 oz per gallon. As a cleaner, I use two oz per gallon. I'm sold on it. Sorry, BIG AL.

I mix it with some of Joe's MoonShine, it's the legal kind you buy at the liquor store of course.
It really enhances the flavor and is no more potent than cherry jubily at a Cattilion Mixer.
It is pretty lame, you should use jet fuel instead.
Coors Light or Jack Black is just as good.
Snake Oil is all it is.
Some people put their faith in the POPE , but he is s snake on a stick as well.
