Hey everyone! While I was on RATTLEBARS site I found some pretty interesting information about my Valk. It all pertains to the V.I.N. I have a 1997 Standard & it was made in April, 1996. It was the 260th Valkyrie made & made in Marysville, OH. I also found the original Owner's Manual in the tool box storage area. The original owner had written the date he bought it & where he bought it & where he lived at the time. The owner's manual is in pretty good shape too. I am going to wash & wax it up again today as I was in an afternoon rain storm a few days ago. I hope everyone is enjoying their week-end. Have a safe one. tommy t IBA 1990   www.coloradolongridersmc.com

Rattlebars looks like a pretty good site for info on the Valkyrie but there were a couple of things about the VIN numbers and Model number that didn't quite jibe in my situation.

On page 2 under the vehicle description (variant), my VIN has the sequence SC412.  The 412 isn't even listed!

Also, on page 10 for deciphering the model number, my model has the code CLF.  CF = Interstate and CLF isn't listed as a variant.

Besides those irregularities, the site is a nice place to spend time to learn more about the Valk.

Awesome information --- I've never taken the time to look up the history on my Valk --- but seeing how I have an email from DMV for renewal on my tags --- made the VIN nice and handy!

Most of this I knew (or assumed)

I've got a 97 Purple & White

She is a SC341 California Standard -- one of the first to roll off the line in 4/96 - #106  coolsmiley

Go here:  http://www.valkyrienorway.com/Discussion%20of%20Variants.html

Shows yours is a Canadian Interstate

Rattlebars site also only is good part way thru the run.  It stopped updating a couple years before the Valk quit production.

SC412 denotes a Canadian Interstate.  You got me on CLF though, have never seen it.  Is that designation on the VIN decal?

The whole concept of V.I.N.'s to keep track of the vehicle for local goverment & federal government to know what vehicle is in question. No two should be alike. It is also a good tool for law enforcement & insurance companies to trace ownership of vehicles. I believe the manufacturer has to report to the D.O.T. every vehicle made or sold in this country (U.S.A.). EVERY V.I.N. should be traceable. At least, I would suspect. tommy t.
