Looking to pick up a couple spares - one for my two I/S and another for our Tourers/Standard.

eBay has several ongoing Buy It Now auctions for these at $290 (I/S) and $274 (Std/Tourer), each brand new.

OEM pricing through BikeBandit and the like is ~$540.

Are the eBay items legit? Anyone ever bought one?

GL1500 Goldwing alternators work just fine if you re-clock them (take out the three screws holding the case halves together and spin the housings -- you'll see when you lay it beside a Valk alt).  They are cheaper from Honda and from eBay.  You might also try Ken Heming at M.A.R.S., though I don't recall what his prices are:  http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/resp3jbj/

Especially if you are looking simply for a spare, I would keep watching ebay for a used Goldwing 1500.  I found one a year ago for $56 plus $12 shipping.  Easy to "re-clock" and worked just fine.

I bought a reconditioned Alternator from mars for $125 plus core chg, comes with a year warranty.
Just bought it for a spare to carry on long trips.    http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/resp3jbj/
