A few friends from the home town wanted to get together and ride on Labor Day Monday.

We had too much to do. We are in the middle of putting in a laundry sink so the plumbing is pulled apart in one end of the house. I am starting a new part-time job the day after Labor Day and have prep to do. The windows need to be painted. On and on the list goes.

Oh well.

We went riding anyway.

The Lincoln Cruisers described this as a "lunch ride." We left out about 9:30 and rode up to Blue Ridge Parkway.  One of the members had a trailer with cooler and picnic baskets. We ate some sandwiches. We celebrated a birthday.

Our trailer puller went ahead a few overlooks. He pulled over and waited for us to catch up so he could snap our pics.

He said he knew he was near the dragon because every bike that went by waved. He didn't start snapping pics until our group showed up. He managed to capture all of us. I like the pic.

We came back down hwy 421 and hwy 16.

Unfortunately we didn't get home until nearly 4:30. It was a fun ride but only nominally a lunch ride. Generally I would have agreed that it was a lunch ride, but it did hold up my afternoon activities. My real life was intruding on my bike riding. I hate when that happens. I had  a great ride punctuated with constantly looking down at my watch. It was a shame.

After we arrived home we switched to the car and ran to town. My wife hadn't ridden in a while so 200 miles was enough for her first day out. I did manage to make it to campus and have a photo ID made.  It doubles as my key so I'm glad I have that done. Now I am off to work...again...on Tuesday.
