Congressional Reform Act of 2010    cooldude     tickedoff

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six year Senate terms

B. Six Two year House terms

C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

2.  No Tenure / No Pension:

A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

3.  Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately.  All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.  Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned  citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/11 .

The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career..  The Founding Fathers envisioned  citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

Because the congress and senate would have to pass this legislation ... and when was the last time any congressman or senator actually put the good of the country before thrmselves.

The law needs to be changed first, as they all get their retirement and health care for life after serving only one term.  Vote for me and my brother in law, we'll do it if they don't kill us first.

Prior to 1855 congress did not recieve a salary, in the late 1700's the recieved a daily per diem for days they worked. Our fore fathers thought it was the duty of the upper class to serve in public with out compensation. Sure doen't sound like the politicians of today does it.

Sounds GREAT to me!!!   Talk about draining the swamp for real.....we would lose a few good people in the process, but we would flush a ton of turds away too!!!

Where do we sign up for this form of representative government... what a concept!!!  Them working for us.... can you imagine???

If people running for congress/senate  knew they would only be there 12 or fewer years, we might actually attract smarter, capable, experienced people who were willing to go to Washington to make things better and then leave again and who brought REAL world WORK EXPERIENCE with them.

Can you imagine what government would be like if even 50% of congress had ANY real world experience???  Most of these bums couldn't run a lemonade stand and now as the eliete ruling class, they're telling us how to live...

Flush 'em all out and start over - nice to dream about it anyway.

Now let me ask you this...

How many of YOU would leave your life to go to Washington for a decade.  Leave your job.  Either spend a load of time away from your family, or transplant them to DC.  Get paid, whatever ya'll are proposing to pay Reps, then have no pension.  Only to return to a "real" job 12 years later, having been left behind, so to speak.  Industries change A LOT over 12  years.

Not that I think they are BAD ideas... but I am NOT interested in that gig.  I'll tell you THAT!
