On the way home from work yesterday my bike started popping on decel. last time this happened, it had blown one of the little plugs out of the redeye tech vacuum plugs. That was the first thing that I checked this time, but all the plugs look ok. It seems to be on the left side and the vacuum line to the petcock looks ok. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I did visually check the exhaust nuts and they looked ok, but I will put a wrench on them when I get home. Intake o-rings should be ok as I just replaced them a year or so ago. Thanks.

I don't mean to insult your intelligence, if you already know this:  Be very careful twisting the header nuts. Doesn't take much to break a stud.

I do know they can break pretty easily, but I don't ever mind being reminded as I have been known to have a brain fart and do something stupid.

take some crc brand q-d electronic cleaner, and while the engine is running spray a little bit around the vaccum lines and vaccum plugs.  if the motor revs up, then you will know that one is leaking (sucking) air.

look at the redeye plugs you put on,  is the center still in them?
made my own and one popped out, had to look closely to see it.

Might also want to check the upper and lower intake boots. Mine loosened up twice in one year, second time I put the blue lock-tite on them. All is good cooldude
Everything mentioned above is good to check, I needed Intake runner o-rings, but that wasn't causing any popping. Vaccuum lines can't hurt to replace if you can't remember when you last did it. Check the torque on the header bolts, If it's off allot, get some new crush gaskets/washers and re-torque. Several of my friends have messed with this and we always change the vaccuum lines as a precaution if they can't remember when done last, almost always for us anyway, the upper boots are WAY loose. Seem to loosen with normal riding. Cheap fix too, couple turn of the screwdriver.
Please post what you find for others.

Tundra, looks like you hit the nail on the head. I tightened the lower intake boots and reseated the plug wires. For the sake of trying the simple stuff, I unplugged the plug wires one at a time to see if it made a difference. It did. I also sprayed starting fluid around the vacuum lines and no difference. I went for a short test ride after tightening the intake boots and all seems to be well. I will get a better test tomorrow on the ride to work. I will update either way.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Glad that worked, easy fix cooldude I would recommend checking the upper screw on the boot also, that's the one everyone forgets, as you can't see it. You can reach it with a 90 degree screwdriver. Or just take off the chrome choke slide cover (3 screws) If your lower was loose , I can assure the upper will loose also. Just takes a minute. Wink
