Part #14, the "Pin Plug" that goes in and keeps the Pin Hanger (part #15) ( the pin that holds the rear section of the brake pads. Is there anything else that will work for part # 14, the plug? I'm looking for a quick fix for now and will order the correct part.

Just replaced the one in my 98. I rode 3 days without waiting for the new part. Tighten the pin and put something in the recess, chew of tobacco would work.

It's really sort of a lock-nut. You can replace it with a allen-head set screw from your hardware store, I'm unsure of the thread...take another one (fronts are the same) to compare.

I would personally be comfortable riding with it missing for a few days as long as the pin was snug.

Also...anti-seize on these (and the pin thread) when you put them in.

You will rue the day if you loctite those parts.  Antiseize as Daniel said....not loctite........

I lost one and went to the dealer.  I was told it was not necessary.  I replaced it anyway.
