Evening folks.  I couldn't find an "Introduce yourself" forum here, so figured this one is as good as any.  Name is Steve, have always gone by "Chiefy."  Live a little south of Tampa on the Gulf.  I had a couple of small street bikes when I was younger.  Sold them off.  25 years later I got the bug again.  Wifey was afraid and had never been on 2, so I bought a trike.  The trike is great, but I'm not ready for 3 wheels yet.  Wife is really digging the trike, and can't wait to try 2.  So, I brought a '98 Valk home this afternoon.  Although I have a learning curve before I'll start taking my bride on it.

That's about it for me.  Just a hello from a new member.  I've been off 2 wheels for a very long time, and I can be kind of dense, so please humor me in the weeks to come.  I'm sure I'll ask a lot of questions that will make your eyes roll.   Roll Eyes  Will be posting my first here momentarily.

Welcome.  If you have questions, this is the place for answers.  They may not be the right answers, but you'll get an answer. 2funny

Welcome to the wonderful world of Valkyrie. I went from a 600cc endro to a tourer in one huge step. I was very careful for a long time and now I'm still very careful but not afraid to go anywhere at anytime on the scooter. Wife and I have travelled many a mile and enjoyed meeting and visiting with members of this family.  Glad to meet you.

Had a place on Anna Maria Island (Holmes Beach) for a while, liked going to the "Sandbar" for food and drinks. Be safe and enjoy your Valk.

Greetings Chiefy, welcome to the VRCC...a great place with lots of great motorcycle enthusiasts!  I am a former resident of Fort Myers and Brandon...always good to meet another Floridian.  For the time being I am blessed to spend a few years in the great state of TN....but I will return home before long!

look for some curved roads. living in nw indiana, the only real curves we have are at the stop signs.  uglystupid2 i will say that doing the parkway, or arkansas, you come away knowing how the 2 wheeler works. you learn to corner, avoid pot holes and just flat out get a better feel when you have done a lot of twisties. the bike and you become one when you have to man handle her.
be safe, ease into sparking the foot pegs.! cooldude

Welcome Chiefy.  Glad to hear you and your wife are enjoying your rides.  How about some pics?  ...of your Valk and trike, I mean, not your wife.   angel

Welcome and Howdy from Texas!  Valks are great bikes...you will learn a lot here, and don't be afraid to ask a question.

All of the riders here are an asset in some areas, some are long term riders and know these bikes better than almost any Honda Mechanic.   You will hear a lot of things about the rear end maintenance (suggest you read up on that), and starter button maintenance/repair.  Another hot topic lately are the fuel shutoff valves.  Our bikes don't have many weaknesses as you will see!  cooldude

Ride that bike and keep the rubber side down!!

If it has been a while since you have ridden, you might consider taking a Motorcycle Safety Course.  It will freshen your skills and introduce you to some techniques to stay safe and enjoy the ride more.
