Had a fork leak repaired yesterday. Took the bike home and put on the Two Brother exhaust. While wollowing on the ground installing the pipes, I noticed thah the front tire had a bulge in the side wall. I took the bike to the Honda shop today as I only had 700 miles on the Avon Cobra and we figured out that the fork oil had softened the tire! I asked them to contact the Avon Rep to see if they would give a brother a break...
Anybody ever heard of fork oil destroying a tire?

That is BS. Avon should replace it. Did you get the tire at the dealer?

My Cobra also had a Bulge in it and come to find out the Damn Snake they made it from was pregnant.
Really a bulge is a structural failure and of course don't ride on the thing.
Whoever mounted it probably caused the failure, not likely that quality control would have missed that
at Avon.
Lawsuits and everything that they are would not allow sloppy quality control, esp, on a Motorcycle
tire.
See the dealer and ask for a redo.
Because they probably caused the prob., but God knows how, I don't see how they could do that
on a tire changer.
Two Cents and that is all.

The buldge was where the oil ran down the tire. The bottom of the tire where it contacted the floor was also soft and showed a bulge. It really seems that the damage was where the oil was.
As the tire was purchased and installed at the Dealer, I've asked the service manager to go to bat for me. I've dealt with him for years and we have some friends in common. Hopefully I will catch a break. I'll find out Monday.

Good luck! Hopefully, the dealer/Avon will come through for you.

Oils not the problem, most hydraulic hoses and seal are made from rubber. I know there are different types of rubber but not that i've seen that would react that quickly.

Either a defect in the tire or bead damage when it was mounted. If a defect then Avon will have to replace, if bead damage then the dealer who mounted the tire will have to replace.

I had a leaky fork seal for a year, no damage to my tire, wiped it off about weekly, course it wasn't an Avon. Hoser

After talking with the service manager every day this week, they finally said Avon would replace the tire. They did say that the labor would not be covered, so I am out $35 total.
I got the tire in May, and (embarassed) had put 1,000 miles on it to date. So I am OK with the $35 and just consider it paying for the miles I used on the tire.
REAL HAPPY with the Two Brothers pipes. I had a kid at a red light roll down his window and say how awesome they sounded. I started the bike next to my sons Trans Am and it set off the alarm.....
I haven't had it over 55 since I put the pipes on (concerned about the tire), nor done a long ride, so I don't know how much I will like the pipes on a long Highway ride.

Different strokes, Hoser. I love mine.
I've really never understood the practice of diluting the riding experience by filling one's ears with Mp3 noise.

Different strokes, Willow. I think the combination of two things I like - riding and listening to music - makes both of them more enjoyable...not diluting the experience of either one.
