i'd like to ad some lites to  my 00 I/S. is there a connection already in the faring or pods for the honda fog lites?  or do ineed to run wires to my battery/fuse box?

valkyriebling has fog light kits for the I/S. There is already wiring available on the bike if it has not been used for anything else.

Wires are behind the right side cover. There are 2 wires with female ends protected by a small black cover around both of them. Not the large boot that covers many wires.

are these switched wires, or do they come on with the headlights?  i'm assuming you can still buy the male ends so i can jus plug and play. thanks mike

They are tied into the ignition system so they will turn on and off with the starter switch and ignition key.

Depending on the current draw you may need to run the lights through a relay and get the load off of the starter switch.

You will need a relay. The wires under the side cover can't handle the load of auxilliary lights. Use the + wire to trigger the relay and run a separate hot wire from the battery.
Or, you can install a fused power buss to handle future additions:
