Currently have the OEM shield and mounts on the bike.......but I like the looks of the Memphis Shades fairing and would like to get one for my Valk.

However, I'm thinking that there will be times that I'd like to be able to go back and fourth from the fairing to the shield and be able to go back again.......like fairing for summer, shield for winter.

Is there a way to be able to use both the Memphis Shades fairing and the OEM shield using the same set of mounts....or has anyone been able to modify some mounts that would allow for this?  If so, got pics and a tutorial?

The Memphis Shades products use fork mounts that are different from any other windshield mount (except Memphis Shades) and are very east to remove (5mm allen wrench).
Depending on what after market shield is on your standard (you said OEM, but there was no OEM windshield on a std. so you might have Hondaline or?) it is only the question of how easy that would be to remove.
I'm thinking a max 30 min swap out on you'd be good to go.
There would not, in my humble opinion, be a way to use the same mounts for the fairing and windshield (unless they are both Memphis Shades).

OEM, HondaLine.....tomato, tamato.

 Wink

But can the Memphis mounts be mounted in conjunction with the "Hondaline" mounts so that I could use both the "Hondaline" and the Memphis Shades?  Or would one get in the way of the other?

OK, well I just finished putting a MS shades batwing on my Tourer.

So far I like the look of it, with a couple complaints.
But to answer your question, there are three mounts for your tourer
oem windshield that must be removed before the MS clamps can be
put on the forks. They're not too tough to remove, expect an hour
there. I looked hard for a way to keep those mounts there so that I
too could go back and forth. Uh-Uh, nuthin doin. The two mount systems interfere too much.
Putting the oem mounts on again wil be a pain, but doable.

There's this chunk o' plastic on the underside that rides on the headlight, it prevents the batwing from tilting up higher.
That's one complaint. Now getting more air in the head than the oem shield. That's the second.
Considering removal of that plastic piece, so I can tilt the batwing
up some more. I'll let ya know.

Hey if anyone else has been through this rig-a-ma-rol,
give it up.  csj

i bought a headlight extender for a VTX moved the headlight out 2" and down 1/2" cost about $30.00 if i remember. do a web search. went with a 12" windshield no probs.

Oops! here it is for $35.00 http://glensvtxgarage.com/headlightextension.html

you could put the light under the mount and add spacers to drop it even further. this setup also brings the light out flush with the front of the fairing for a cleaner look.
ps: you'll need to cut off the headlight supports that hook to the turnsignal mounts, also you'll be removing the turn signals as the will not fit with the fairing and lowering the will cause them to hit the radiator and brake anyway.
i used a HD lightbar from a FL model with matching spots and turns( really freaks out oncoming HD riders)
