My other excuse is I'm old..... coolsmiley tickedoff 2funny

I have a Garmin 2620 GPS, but I don't like to take it on Dealer Trades as I'm afraid I'll leave it in the vehicle I'm dropping off. coolsmiley tickedoff

So, what do ya recommend for a cheap easy to use GPS.  Just one of those point A to Point B jobs..... Evil

I saw one ya talked to yesterday, but I never got a chance to talk to the guy who had it......... angel police

I'll even take a reconditioned one................  I've heard of Gumbo or Guno or something along that line....   I'm not proud as to what it is, just a cheapie to get the job done with some ease.  Oh, a windshiled suction cup mount......

I have a Samsung Eternity cell phone, it has GPS in it along with an internet browser. I use AT&T and it's an extra $20 a month but I won't have to pay for updates. I haven't used it seriously yet but I did have it on when going from Cherokee NC to Gatlinburg TN through the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and it didn't work because it had no cell signal. I guess a "real" GPS would have worked.
That's as close as I'll get to owning a GPS system unless Violet decides she wants one and it WILL NOT go on the Valkyrie  tickedoff and I'll only use the GPS in the cell phone if I get really really REALLY lost and am about out of gas.

Point to all my rantings is that if your GPS is in your phone you probably won't leave it in somebodies car.

NewEgg generally has the best prices.
Here's a link to the GPS page with some as low as $70 with free shiping.
http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=357&name=GPS-Navigation

Amazon has some used 2720's for about $103 + shipping.

They get a lot of reconditioned and old models but still new at very good prices. Got my Garmin Quest there last year. They have a Magellian Roadmate 1200 for 59.99 and I am sure they have other deals as well. Here's a link http://www.tigerdirect.com/

RJ I have a Magellan that I dont use, it worked perfect for about 30 minutes untill it got hot in the enviroment it was designed for then it would blank out.   Once it cooled off it would work again, but pretty useless if you cant use it in the winshield where it belongs.  Based on my experience, I would stay away from them.  The Garmin Nuvis are cheap these days and prolly a better choice.

So what did you decide?

I'm looking real hard at the Garmin Nuvi 360........

Costco flyer I got the other day says they are going to have them on sale.   Will see what comes up and go from there...

If the economy doesn't pick up, I won't need it.   Since January 1, we have only had 20 Dealer Trades and I got one of them.

Heck RJ, Just get a refurbished 2720 for about $100 and it will be just about like the one you have. You can get them for about $130 if you keep your eyes open. Good Luck!

I have a Garmin Quest II that is darn hard to beat for inside of a car or truck. I have had it for 4 1/2 years and it's been perfect for me. The biggest drawback to that one is that it has a very small screen.

The Nuvis are a good unit too... large color touch screen and loads of features.... Whatever you buy, make sure that it qualifies for Garmiin's lifetime updates.... $129 some units do and some are out of date... go figure.

Sherry and I have his and her Quest 2 models. Screen is kind of small. Also, on the bikes, which is what we use them for primarily....sometimes the sunlight makes the screen kind of hard to see.

In the truck/car...it works GREAT! overall, i like em'. got both of em' as refurbished units...so they were cheap...under 200....

some day i would like to have a larger touch screen model...perhaps?

Not to step on Steve's toes here, this is allowing for motorcycle time.

Fudgie, if ya come I/State, which is crowded as 7734 with TRUCKS, to Des Moines, about 3 hours and 15 minutes and back road, Hwy 141 North out of Des Moines to Hwy 44 and hang a left, to Hwy 4 and hang a right to the barn, & cell tower,  the last 45 miles.

Now, if ya go North and catch Hwy 30, or hwy 20 add a hour to it....

You would fight trucks to Iowa City on  I-80 to I-380 North, catch 151, changes to 218 and finally US 30 to Jefferson and head South on Hwy 4 till ya see the big old cell tower or the big ole barn.   Turn left into the driveway, plenty of parking in the main garage.   Right Craig?

Later is a lot of 4 lane divided, but, a whole lot less truck traffic, and if ya want an enjoyable, well 1/2 way, I'd choose the later route........
