I doubt any good Valk mechanics exist at the dealers.  A Valk rarely needs work and they haven't sold any new Valks in 7 yrs.  You would be better off finding a fellow Valk owner in the area that likes to work on bikes.

What do you need to have done to it?  It might be something that can be easily explained and you do the work yourself.

not having a problem with the Bee (no surprise)planning on having the rear end service done and have my doubts about being able to securley get it raised up high enough to preform the service I want to do,want to do the drive shaft/u-joint inspection and drive spline service, had new tires put on at dealer and asked them to ck the drive splines and make sure they were lubed and ok--But just dont really trust them to do it..so like most of the riders on here decided might be best to do it myself and know its done right,,the information on here is great for me since I am a newbie valk owner and like you all I love the dragon!!I have been riding since 13 yrs old and rode wards riverside 125-Kz1300 kawasakis,Bmws ,several harleys,BUt in my opinion the valk is the best of them all..I am proud to be amember of this elite group of dragon riders.

Hey Joe,
I've done my rear splines (with moly paste and replace the washer and 3 o-rings) but intend to remove the and service the driveshaft and take care of the u-joint splines this winter. I intend to convert my valk over to a CT at the same time and want to make sure I'm doing everything right.   Undecided   Would you mind sending a copy of those instructions to me as well?

Incidentally, how often should the o-rings and washer be replaced? Should I replace them again while I have things apart even though I did it in July? I have only ridden a few hundred miles since I put the 'ol girl back together again.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Email sent.

Most will tell you that it is cheap insurance to replace the o-rings every time you take the wheel off.  For most people...that is once a year or two.  For others...it is definitely once a year. (depending on what tire you are running and your riding style.)   It is not the assembly, disassembly that is the problem...it is the wear from rolling over the o-rings.  Since you are going to a car tire...i would say replace them every time you take it apart to re-lube the splines....or once a year...whichever comes first.

Buy the Jig that fits the holes on the motor and will support the bike correctly.

I made my own.

This will get it high enough.

buy your parts before you do this.

Smaller bearing on the outboard side, just replace it, it is a problem.

Lube it with Ketchup, yes Ketchup, because any grease I mention will be wrong to somebody.

Moly is the slickest stuff on the planet, mined from porforry shorings, it is good to have 60%,

Guard Dog is higher in Moly, at 75%, Honda sells the 60% stuff and should be adequate.

Main thing is get a grease that will not migrate at 400 degrees and there are lot of those.

Make sure you leave the four bolts on the differential loose, one turn out from snug.

Tighten these last, it is the magic touch of this operation.

Enjoy your bike then.
