Nothing beats a 6-pack!

« on: September 23, 2010, 07:09:17 AM »

Looked all over the internet, found ONE place, that listed one, but they had "Out of Stock" on it. This is the Hankook K106 205/55R16 91V

Is this a really hard tire to find? Or have all the Valk owners bought them out?

Here's the one I found:  http://www.discounttirezone.com/HANKOOK-RADIAL-K106-20555R16-91V_p_488-4354.html

Any suggestions?

Thanks! I had seen the used on at champtires, but something in the back of my head, can't get around a "used" tire, on my motorcycle. Maybe that something is my brain...

Thanks on the other two - I'll look into them. The one has pretty good shipping - $7.50, which might comp for the slightly higher price, than the place that was "out of stock".

How many miles can you get on one of these tires on the Valkyrie?

David - personal experience with it? I had heard a lot on the Hankook, and the price was right. The price is right there on the Nexen, also, but I rely  pretty heavily on WOM, since this is my first C/T.

Tarheel - some people are bragging about 25,000 miles on the Car Tires. I don't have any experience with them at all, so I'm just going by what I am researching.

[/quote]Have a lot of miles as far as car tires, but no experience with that tire. I know Smokin Joe runs the fusion tire and really likes it.

Are you sure you want a 205/55?  Have you thought about a 195/65?
I have the 55 and will increase to 60 or 65 and use a more slender tire to ensure clearance.

Again, I'm new at this, but the vast majority seem to be riding on 205/55's. I wouldn't mind hearing from those who have already gone to something like a 195/65, and getting their opinions.

I do know that the 55's allow for stickier tires.

I have the tire your looking at. Got it here local. He had to get it from the columbus Oh store. $70 with a discount.

I love it. I have about 16k on it and see no wear at all, but I'm a highway runner and not much of a twisty guy. I have the psi at 38ish. The rpm's did increase slighlty. The differance tween my 200 metz and this tire is very minimal. Almost unnoticeable. You'll like it.  cooldude

i have same tire also. i love this tire and have 13,000 on mine. i pushed it in south dakota and will tell you that it grips great. i always ride 2 up so i run right at 42 psi and it is a great tire. i would like to buy another one just to have when its time to swap it out. let me know if you find it. i looked at a few sites earlier and they did not have it.  Undecided

Try your local Pepboys .....  when I tried the other side I believe I had that tire and got it from them.

Cool on Pep Boys - I'll be right by there tomorrow! Since they are on the far side of town, I never think off them.

Thanks all...all I've heard is good on the Hankook, and that's why I was pretty
sure that's how I was going.

One more question - how is the clearance on the 205/55-16? Is the nut cage mod mandatory?

For the nutcage mod...it just depends on your bike.  I'm running a 205/60 and frankly, I think I could have gotten away without doing it.  On the other hand, I had a rub on the inside of the swingarm driveshaft tube.  The seam of the stiffener was sticking out...but a few bumps with a hammer to flatten that metal down cured that problem.

Not sure. It would be best to do it while your in there to be on the safe side. My 200 metz never rubbed till I went 2 up. The odd thing is that I have more clearance with the swing arm with the 205 hankook then I did with the 200 Metz.  ???
