Man did I give him the full tour, Croton Dam from top and bottom, Goat Trail, Bear Mountain Bridge, Seven Lakes Parkway, Perkins Drive, 106, 17,  6, 293 and the Cliff Road north of West Point 218, 9W, 9D, Cold Spring, 301 and Peekskill Hollow Rd to the Taconic   There was no check points but I did pull over a state trooper, sort of 2funny  They really hate when I do that coolsmiley

I believe he had such a great time (he was on the police bike) he bought lunch for me and G at the Stadium. Got to see Heisman Trophies, Golden Gloves and a whole bunch of priceless sports memorabilia to boot.

Come up anytime Jimmy  it was fun riding with you.

Oss, I can't thank you enough for taking me riding around your great state of New York.  I

had a great time!  I don't know if I could live here, because if I did, where would there be

to ride that was better than my own back yard (your back yard, you know).  I'd put this ride up beside Colorado, Michigan,

Tennessee, and North Carolina as far as great roads and beautiful

places to ride.  Who would have thunk that there was such beauty so close to New York City?

The trees were just starting to turn and the roads were lightly traveled.  The only snafu

was the road closing due to the bicycle ride, but we got to ride the Goat Trail coming down

the mountain and it was awesome.  Here are a few pics that I took along the way.  I didn't

feel comfortable enough to take pictures while riding and didn't have a mount on your bike,

but I still got some good shots....

These pictures are of the Croton Dam...built in 1892 completely from hand carved stones!

Back side of the dam.

Water shed and spillway...

Spill way, all hand carved stones!!

Plaqaues showing date built and history.

Rainbow in the mist at the bottom of the spillway.

From below the dam.  All that water is held back by the dam on the right...

This was the overlook that we stopped at.  You could see a long way in both directions.  It

was complete with a train track that went through a tunnel directly under us and other bikes

out for a ride on a beautiful day.

This was a small man made island in the middle of the water below, complete with a house.

Oss will have to tell you the name of it, but it has poision ivy and undetonated ordanances

on it.

Picture of the bikes at the overlook we stopped at.

Gman at the overlook...

Train track that tunnels under where we are standing, only about 800-1000 feet down.  Smiley

This was where we ate lunch, The Stadium, sports bar and sports museum.

This is the Heisman Trophy they have on display up high in a display case.

This is the display case just inside the door to the place!  There are at least 100 other cases filled with signed jerseys, signed balls, signed pictures, signed pucks, bats, and any other thing of value that can be signed and placed in a display case.  I saw most famous football players jerseys, except Earl Campbell.  Even Nolan Ryan has a signed picture and signed baseball in this place.

Again, I had a great time riding with Oss and Gman.  I would ride with you two anytime.  The

beemer is a nice bike, just different from the Valk.  I seemed to sit a bit higher, or so it

seemed.
Thanks for letting me ride your 2nd bike!

Tell Bonnie HI for me and I'll see ya down the road!

anytime at all Jimmy ! cooldude  It was a great day to ride and I had a blast

The Island is called Bannerman Island  It is a natural island just with a man made castle.

Just north of Bear Mtn Bridge was Fort Montgomery, that is where chain was stretched across the Hudson to try to keep the British Fleet from being able to sail up to West Point   A fierce battle waged there which resulted in loss of the American fleet and most but not all of the British fleet and the abandonment of the fort,  We kinda lost most of the early battles in that war but won at the end or we would all be talkin funny like Britman Grin

I really hate it when people (Big Al) reply to their own posts, but I'm going to do it anyways....  jk Big Al

This is the place we ate lunch at on Sunday when Oss and Gman took me for a ride through the New York country side.  It's a place called The Stadium.  It has TONS of sports stuff.

Thanks for the offer Eric, but I flew in for the conference.  Sir Oss let me ride his Beemer Police Cruiser, complete with shotgun mount. Smiley. I fly home this Thursday evening.
