I have a dilemma re. the subject line. I asked the same question of two different Ebay listings and got two different answers. Both are for an '82 GL1100 trunk, one is in much better shape and would be the one I'd go after. But, when I asked for size, I did it on both listings at the same time and they came back hugely different. One said; w=17", depth front/back=14", H=11". The other said w=25", depth=13", H=12".  The second one would be more to my liking as far as size goes, but now I don't know which is right. So, does anyone have access to a GL1100 with a trunk that can give me an idea of the actual size. If I remember right, the 1100 was from 1980-83.

There were a couple different luggage packages for the gl1100. I don't remember the designations...one of them was more like luggage...carrying handles and such and was smaller. My bud's 1100 (81) is hanging out in my garage at the moment...it's got the small stuff...I'll measure when I get home.

Thanks Daniel. Strangely enough, the two I posed the question to are the "carrying luggage" type, part of why I'm confused. The rest of my confusion is age related!!   Cheesy

In case you don't recall the name....we had breakfast together downtown during InZane. The little restaurant was a bit crowded and I waved at you to come sit.

UPDATE: I just went back and pulled up the two pictures separately and reduced the windows so I could see them side by side. There definitely is a difference in size, never knew that. A quick check was looking at the distance from the latches to the end of the case....one was noticeably longer. What bugs me is that case is the one I would consider because of the size and is the worst looking one. Oh well, paint is cheap.

This is the size +/- (w=25", depth=13", H=12")  of the standard painted to match bolt on trunk.

Do not know about the removable luggage style but it was not as wide.

The pictures show the larger one with the carrying handle on top, the smaller one with the handle on the edge adjacent to where the two halves meet. Guess I'll double check with the person listing the larger one to make certain. Those trunks use a mount which unlocks the case and lets you carry it away. In looking at those mounts, I have good reason to think I can adapt it to mount to the back of the Valk, especially since I ride solo all the time. With a bit of "Injun-uity" (that bugs my wife since she's part Cherokee Grin) I plan to set up the installation of the mount for a quick removal. Possibly similar to the method used by some on their Super Valk.

Yes the paint matched one has the handle on the top. But I do not remember it detaching easily. Course it has been 25 years since I sold mine.

I have a buddy that has one I will ask him. More Later

Just talked to my buddy, he said quick detach.
He is going to check in the AM as to how it detaches, he only ever took it off once.

Charlie just called and related the following on the on the GL1100 trunk, you release 2 locks on the rear, push forward and lift up.
