Well, folks, the first attempt to celebrate the end of a very hot summer was... ummmm... shall we say a bit premature... We got ambushed by The Weather Channel, you see, but I should have known better. Anyway, it wasn't unsummer-like at all. Nope, if fact, it was downright hot, even though the early forecast had been for quite comfortable temps. Ain't the first time that's happened to me, and I'll bet more 'n a few of y'all have had similar experiences... Oh well...
The forecast for this coming weekend is way more than tempting to this encurable optomist, so we're gonna give 'er yet another try. The Napper encourages me to keep on tryin', 'cause I'm bound to git it right sometime between now and Christmas... we'll see. Anyhow, at this particular moment, it looks like we have a glorious riding weekend coming up, and we're headin' out yonder to soak up as much glorious-ness as we can find.
About ten years or so ago, some Georgia riding buds of mine used to drop by Colonel Poole's BBQ in Elijay, GA, now and then for what they claimed was some seriously good pig parts. For one reason or another, however, I never did get to sample their wares. I did swing by there one time all by my lonesome, but it was on a Sunday, and that's the day they're closed. I made a mental note of that place, though, and now I'm thinkin' it's high time I got around to addressin' that little oversight from my past.
We plan to arrive At the Colonel's place around 11:30-ish Saturday and then do the dining deed. No plans after that, but we're gonna make this an overnighter too, so we'll be seeking accomodations someplace around those parts following a bit mo' ridin' 'round the hills. We also intend to fulfill the Slambilee part of this adventure that evening, as well. (BTW, Slambilee is short for Slam-dunk Jubilee.) Anybody want to indulge their glutenous fantasies?

I'm guessin' that 11:30-ish is central time ? I'm not sure right now what my boss has in mind for me this weekend....But I do like BBQ
