Since Honda is back ordered on U joints the price of used ones has sky rocketed. New there around $100.00 now there going for $140.00 plus and Pinwall doesn't even have any used. Valkyrie or 1500 goldwing ones. If I wait long enough maybe I'll get $500.00 for my new one LOL.

Interesting subject re: valk used parts. Is it worth it to start stockpiling common parts? are prices rising rapidly? I have been lucky to not have to buy too much for mine over the past 4 years. Maybe it would be a good investment..

maybe it's becoming time to sell the fat old girl and buy something else.....

(don't want to, but having something that you've got to make your own aftermarket parts for?  i don't know.....)

Hate to say it, but the very same thought had crossed my mind (albeit....a fleeting thought).  The problem described with the availability of the U-Joint is similar to that of the saddlebag latch I ordered a couple of months ago....I had to wait for another batch to be made.  Hopefully this U-Joint availability issue is an isolated one, but something tells me that this is going to become more common going forward.

Michael Terry from Valk bling put an ad on the classifieds saying that he has some good used ones for sale. Works if yours is shot.

What common parts would you stockpile? Just drive-shaft, u-joint and splines? Carb parts? Petcocks?

...and pinion cup.

You know, you'd think that Honda would - in an effort to save $$$ - have used more common parts on these bikes.  Maybe even on their cars?  I think I read somewhere on here that you can use the same oil filter off of a Honda Pilot on our Valks.  I wonder what other car-to-bike parts can be used?  I often see people asking about what parts can be used off of a 'Wing...but what about Honda's cars?

I remember when Mr. Honda was still running the company; he stated that as long as he was around, parts for all models would always be available. Just another example of a great company being screwed up by putting the wrong people in charge.  tickedoff

This is sort of a new thing. Body parts have always gone away on Hondas but mechanical parts have been readily available in the past.

I've never heard of a 6 month back-order before.

Honda...she is changing.
