Had a mishap with my final drive filler cap. The head just popped off when snugging it up after some rear end service and final drive fluid change. Just when you're feeling warm and fuzzy after rear end servicing and buttoning her all up...  tickedoff

Ordered the filler cap and o-ring from Cheap Cycle over 3 weeks ago. Still no show despite a live person two weeks ago telling me it would go out USPS that Friday. Still no show. Sat on hold for over 25 minutes on two different calls to follow up, finally hung up.

Tried to work with the posted sponsor. First order was about two weeks - I thought this was somewhat fair.  Undecided

I believe last time I tried Service Honda they were defunct or at least their site would not process an order.

Any suggested sources would be much appreciated.

I did this exact thing with my 98 1100 Tourer. As much as I hate to send anyone to a dealer, that's what I did and spent around 12 bucks for a new one. It was a huge relief. I would bet that this part crosses over between different models.

Then I looked up the torque value before re-installing the new one...

I just did this last week. crazy2

Opted for local Honda dealer.  They had it in stock @ $8.42 (list price) + tax ($9.10 total)
If you need one, I can get it and ship it to you tomorrow.

That's one of those things you don't torque down, just make sure you have a good ring and snug it in place. Frankly, I've never heard of snapping the top off one, although I've seen many with the edges rounded off because they were intalled way too tight. As for Service Honda, they are good, just call their 800 number instead of trying to do it online. I've never had luck with doing it online either.

My business still goes to HDL even though they no longer support our board.  They have made mistakes and aren't always the fastest, but.......

Try Bike Bandit.  Friday the 10th I ordered parts from HDL, and paid the additional for express shipping.  Monday the 13th I ordered the same parts from Bike Bandit, standard shipping.  Received the Bike Bandit order on Friday the 17th.  The HDL order arrived Monday the 20th.

Go figure.

Call 218-829-6656. Make sure to talk to Justin. Tell him you are a Valkyrie Club member and he will give you the best deal he can. I have been buying from him for nearly 5 years and every transaction is a good one. You can even tell him Mike sent you!
