Anybody thinking about the ride out there on Friday from Houston?  I am thinking of leaving a bit after rush hour on that Friday Morning.   Safety in numbers and all that.  Thinking about taking 90 west towards San Antonio, but not sure how that will add  a lot of hours to the trip or not.  Let me know all!

I've taken 90 to the hill country before.  It's my route of choice if I'm not in any rush.  It's a small-ish US highway, so most of it is open country, 2 lane road.  It does pass through some small towns, so you end up stopping periodically.  Not so much as to make it frustrating.  I recommend it.

As for riding together:
As is my standard, I will have to detour to Austin to pick up a blonde.  My plan was to take the following route:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=102498708026098334905.000491527d541c6095297&ll=31.821565,-97.932129&spn=4.321266,7.064209&t=h&z=7&iwloc=000491527d580fadfd8a4
Anyone that wants to take that detour with me is welcome.  Anyone that wants to go with me as far as Wimberley, and then continue on directly is welcome as well.  I would suggest the following route for those continuing on:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?doflg=ptm&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=102498708026098334905.000491529417102743f03&ll=29.735762,-97.086182&spn=4.415921,7.064209&t=h&z=7
Anyone that wants to head to Louisiana first is on their own.

I figure we could leave our area (for everyone else: Clear Lake area) at 8:30 or so, and avoid the traffic.  We could pick up other riders at designated spots along the way, and get to Wimberley at ~1.  Stop there, with lunch, then I could head to Austin with whomever decided to join me, getting there at ~3.   That would get us in to Kerrville around 5 or so.  The non-detourers will probably beat us by ~2 hours or so.

So, who's coming along?

Count me in Mark!  I will skip the leg to Austin however.  Your depart time sounds perfect!

As per our discussions at the meeting a few weeks ago, I think there will be a second group leaving around that time.

OK, so who's joining us on the morning run?  Steve and Mike and me, so far.  Unless other folks want to meet up, I figure follow the route linked above (mostly), but Steve and I can meet at the Randall's at Clear Lake City Blvd and Space Center at 8:30 (ksu), and pick up Mike at 9:15 or so at the Exxon at 288 and 6.
Then we'll catch lunch in Wimberley, and so on.

There will be 6 of us (3 Valks) meeting at the corner of 290 and FM1488 on Friday at 1300 hours.
Hay - BJHay
Bobby - Connie
Fred - Chantal

Anyone that wants to ride up with us, just meet us at the gas station (Exxon?) on this corner.  There is also a McDonalds next to the gas station.

Please reply to this post so we will know to wait on you.

Thanks,
