Disclaimer... I have absolutely no relationship with any product or site mentioned.

If you're interested in having real time GPS tracking to monitor the whereabouts of your bike or other vehicles here's a way to do it cheap. It'll cost you about $25.00 for the equipment and $40.00 per year. The online tracking is free.

All you need is a cheap phone... I'm using several Motorola i425 that you can get for $19.95 at WalMart and other places and a plug-in battery charger for $3.00. These are on Boost Mobile pay-as-you-go, no contract accounts. The Boost account requires a minimum $10.00 to be paid into the account every 90 days to keep it active. The phones come with $5.00 credit. There's word that you also have to activate the Web Access on the Boost Mobile account for this to work and it's 35 cents per day. You do not have to do that.

The web site where the tracking is done is absolutely free.  There are a few other phones that will work and you can check out the whole story on the site.

I have the phones plugged into hard wired chargers and leave them on 24/7. It works flawlessly under the seat of the Valk! If it's ever stolen I'll know exactly where it as and where it's been.

Tracking is done at 5 second intervals when the vehicle is moving 20 mph or faster if it's being watched online. Tracking is 30 seconds if not being watched and 60 seconds when parked.

If you ever ride alone this could locate you if you were unfortunate enough to be down where you couldn't be seen.

All the information you'll need is at the tracking web site...

And you can get really inexpensive chargers for the phones here...

I've only been using them for two weeks so I don't know how long they will hold up... especially in hot cars in the summertime. But for now I'm quite pleased with what I'm getting out of them.
