Im cruising through town today on my '97 stnd. Im behind one of those secret blacked out LEO SUV's that are supposed not look like a cop car............"right" anyways, were going like 5 mph under the speed limit. So were doing 40mph in the fast lane on atwo laner. He moves over to the slow lane I continue on. Luckily (if I believed in luck) I decided NOT to speed up. Immediately I observe a woman in the center turning lane looking like she wants to cut across my lane but there was a lot of traffic......no way she can make it, but I watch her anyway. Just as Im at that point where you think ok GOOD shes not going to pull out she pulls out abrubtly all theway accross my lane. I mean 25 feet in front of me Im staring at the rear passenger door of a full size car and Im doing 40mph. That car was getting bigger fast! I didnt even try brakes.....you would be sending emails to my hospital bed if I tried to stop.......I held steady speed and cut a violent lean to the right to JUST miss her front bumper. About the time I was clear of her I realized there was a car in the next lane that I was heading for and there wasnt enough room inbetween the two for a Valkyrie. So I kept the bike moving toward the car in the next lane as I straightend up my lean knowing full well I was going to pancake into that car, but at least it was going in the same direction as me and the same speed too. I braced for impact, bit I wasnt looking at the car, I was looking at the clear lane ahead of me if by some miricle I could get through.
All I can say is the driver of the car in the slow lane had to have seen what was going on and moved over because I didnt hit it. I mean it was so close I could have kicked the door without moving my foot off the driver peg.
With my heart in my throat and pumping hard I finished swerving back to the left, straightend out and looked in my mirror, the lady that pulled out in front of me was old, white hair.......Im not going to stop and yell at her....so I just motor on and Im still shaky as Im typing this.

Glad your OK. I can understand when the older people do it but get quite pissed when cut off by younger people. I do yell at them.

The cop shudda been in front row seating behind and to my right. It looked like he didnt stop her, but it may have just tken a few more seconds for him to get behind her so I couldnt see his lights. Or, being the undercover type, maybe that was just too "nothing" for him to get involved

Awh, get over it. Just kiddin. Good lesson too. I had a 59 MGA back in the day. Lady pulled out of a side road bout like you're sayin. Instead of braking and slammin into her, gassed it, mad a quick move to the left into oncoming traffic then back into my lane and made it look like I did this everyday. Got home and liked to have puked. Whew, glad you got depends.

I hate that this happened. Glad you had the skills to get out and the other driver helped a little. Bet she has quite a story to tell too! Probably right about the officer, no blood, no foul.

Hell NO, he was probaly under cover and did not want to possibily blow his cover. Not enough time for a Black & White to get there.

God bless you Chris. Aren't training and guardian angles awesome things. You did all the right things and kept your attention on the escape route instead of the danger areas. Congratulations to you. Mark
