Apparently "funnest" is not a word.  So - what has been the most fun cage you've ever been in? (Driving or riding doesn't matter - front seat experiences only, please.) For me, it was an 800+ HP Dodge Ram Diesel. We were going about 45mph down a straight country road when the driver stepped on it. The back-end broke loose and we started gettin' sideways! And that thing had a posi rear! Dang, that was a blast!

Passenger - Tie between riding shotgun in a Panoz street racer:  and riding shotgun in an IROC car at 150+ on the highly banked Texas Motor Speedway (I nearly blacked out on the first turn from the G's):  Driver - My 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo that'd been massaged by ATS Racing. Around 300 HP to the rear wheels in a very tiny light weight mid engined go-kart... That was my daily driver for nearly 15 years. Had to sell it this spring, couldn't afford to keep it running, and didn't want to watch it slowly rot away in the garage from lack of use.

Dad had 70 vette. It was fun driving when I was 16.  My sister-inlaws, brother in-law ??? has a Lambo. Holy cow!  Triple digits came very fast!

No contest. 1947 Willys, CJ2A. Bone stock. Top speed 60 MPH. Max cruising speed 40 MPH.
Purchased in 1972. I still own it, I still have license plates on it.
It was a blast in the Moab area this spring, showing all the modified rigs what a bone-stock REAL Jeep will do! If ya wanna see a pic, I'll post one from photobucket.
Most funnest cage I've ever been in.

'70 plymouth 426 superbird. I had a girlfriend whose dad owned it. '73 Z-28. My brothers that I learned to drive on.
The new SRT-8 Dodges are a BLAST too. Take your pic... Charger, Magnum, Challenger or 300.
My best friend in high school had a '69 Charger with a 440 Mag, and extensive engine work. Me as a passenger, he buried the 165 mph speedo on that thing. I have NO idea how fast we were actually going, but I would not call that FUN. I was pretty pissed off at him. He still owns that car to this day. His Dad bought it new after coming home from Viet Nam with one of his legs blown off by a grenade.

57 Olds Super 88 371cu in 4bbl coppertone brown 4 door
Never needed the back seat because front bench seat was so big a gals legs straight out would maybe just hit the dash it was so huge and the seat I think was electric too. Power switch for am fmradio on the floor but I added a SONY radio for the extra bass
could get 4 friends in the trunk on the way into the drivein
had it pinned at 135 on the NYS thruway but it did take a mile to stop, power brakes was kind of an oxymoron I suppose
Once you had it moving around 40 or so it would hang with any car out there because of the S gear many times I would race with great cars of the day on route 17 on my way to and from Buffalo and I was never humbled.
Could hit guard rails, rock walls, cars (not that I did that often mind you) and the thing would still keep running which is what a 19 yr old needs, dad made me buy seat belts at sears tho before I could drive it (smart dad)
Drove that thing everywhere including Buffalo, Florida and points all over before selling it for what i paid for it while in law school.
one thing was wierd tho you could have your hand on the wheel move from 3 to 9 oclock position and the car is still moving straight ahead. Power steering was kinda loose, made for great fun in the snow

My '99 Miata. I've had it for almost three years. I've done a few things to it. 4 into 1 SS header, low restriction Cat, SS ceramic muffler, cold air intake, bigger sway bars, Koni shocks, UHP tires, etc. It 's not fast but the handling is great. It is definitely a fun car in every way. Cheap to run . I'll keep it awhile.

Vell. let's see. 69 Cuda with a Hemi. Chrysler had beefed it up to show CHP it's capabilities. 69 Cuda 440 - 6 pak. Same as above. 69 Chrysler - 440 - dual 4's. Same as above. AMC - Javelin - 402 - 4 speed - test car for CHP 49 Rambler Ambassador - 6 cyl - 3 spd - O/D - NO POWER extras. It would run 120, in 2nd o/d, and 102 in 3rd o/d - my 1st assigned Patrol car with the RED gum ball on top........ 39 Chevy Coupe - 350 crate motor w/Powerglide. 29 Model A Coupe - Lincoln V12 engine. Drove it from the rear area. My Chevy Trike - turned a 13.12 in 1/4 mile, off of idle, in Ohio when on Power Tour w/408 stroker. current engine. #1 engine in this unit was a 454 Truck engine. #2 engine was a 4.3 V6. #3 engine was a 57 Chev - 283 slightly modified. #4 engine was a 350 truck - 4 bolt - when it started using oil, we made it into the current 408 stroker. Bored super big and sleeved back with forged pistons. Nascar exhaust.....  Highbinder driving at CBR in 2009.. 57 Corvette with a Fuelie. 60 Chev Nomad wagon, 409 - tri power - radical cam from Crane - 4 speed - posi. Lots of CHP patrol car testing. Dodge Diplomats Plymouth's Ford's Chevrolet's Mercury's

You chaps have it all wrong.  Bigger is not always best.  Ford Escort RS. 2000cc, 4 cylinder turbo. Front wheel drive. 140mph and handled like it was on rails. An amazing car for its size. 2 door 4 seater. Had this as a compnay car for 2 years. Took it to Frnace and Italy on vacation a couple of times and tore up some Alpine mountain passes.  Sat in the back seat of the pace car at Bristol on a charity ride day. 90mph all the way around that saucer sized track. Sat in the trunk of the pace car at the "Festival of a 1,000 bikes weekend end at Brands Hatch. I was photographing the bikes going around the track for a Brit bike magazine. Did this 3 years running. Couldn't do it now thanks to the Elf and Safety nuts. Sat next to a pro rally driver as he took a high powered executive saloon car around Donnington race course. One finger on the wheel drifting it around the curves.  I drove a high powered executive saloon car around the Vauxhall proving ground speed bowl at 160mph. Up on the banking Yee-Ha !!!

brother in laws 1931 Model A pick up. stroker 375, posi and power. drove it to Lousiville Ky for street rod nats. So small in the driving compartment had my wrists resting on my knees. could still reach the gas pedal tho.

I took this pic last fall. I just had pulled her out of storage in the basement of a house I sold. 1947 Mercury Sedan that I have owned forever it seems. 100% stock with about 70K on the clock. 80 hp flathead V8 with 3 on the tree and glasspack duals. Makes me smile every time I get behind the wheel.  John that is really nice!

I thought about it for a while and it was a toss up between these 2 which I liked for completely different reasons. 1966 GTO 389 with 3 deuces from the factory, same color as this photo. The title was not in my name, it belonged to my uncle, however I drove it everyday. It goes without saying that it was fast....and not what a 16 year old should have been driving.  I loved the 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster that I saved my money and bought for a handsome sum of $400. It had the most horrible baby sh*t green color I have ever seen. I abused that car, however that 216 cubic inch straight six kept going. I sold it when I was in college for the price I paid for it!

'72 Ford Gran Torino Sport fastback with a 351 Cleveland. That thing would haul butt. The one I remember most though was a '92 Honda Prelude, black with a spoiler on the trunk. I know for a fact that it would do over 119mph, because that's what it was saying after the blue lights in my rear view mirror caught my attention, and my foot came off the gas. I still have the ticket around here somewhere. About 2 weeks after that, when the wife found out, I traded the Prelude in on a '95 Ford Ranger. lol

tossup between my old 64 gto 389 tripower 4 speed 410 gears and my sons mud truck, 1 ton 4 wd drive huge tires, and a very hopped up big block. with a reworked automatic. he had me spinning in a circle all four tires smoking(did i mention we were in the center of the little town he lives is?) had to go home and change my underwear after that one LOL

I had a '69 Dodge Dart with a 440 ci engine and a reverse shift racing auto racing transmission. It made about 550 HP and could really fly. It was setup as a drag car but I drove it on the street.

 '40 Pontiac. All stock, slow but a blast! '66 Cyclone. 289 with "lots" work. Had one also when my wife and I started dating 41 1/2 years ago. It was a 390 and this one is a lot quicker.  '97 Mustang Cobra SVT. Lots of goodies. 1/4 mile times under 12 seconds. A real rocket!  Cobra Engine. 32 valves, Vortec Supercharger. 472 HP at rear wheels. Also had '70 El Camino SS454, '68 Vette 427 w/435 HP, '65 Dodge Coronet with 413 Wedge, and lots of others over the years. Can you say "car nut"?

Second car I ever owned. When gas went over 49 cents I had to pull out the 4:33 posi and put in some high ratio in the 2's. When the oil embargo hit I traded it in on a 1972 VW bug and I got $400.00 against the $2000.00 price of the used beetle which was more than it sold for new! The most notable thing about the Goat was, it seemed the faster you went the more it seemed to hunker down and hug the road. Somehow, if I were able to drive it today, I believe I might have a different opinion.

Owned 2 Cummins Turbo Diesel's BullyDog upgrades 850lb Tq Grey truck behind my 911-964 C2 cabriolet 52 k original miles on it all original top and leather...to the right my BMW 328ci. replaced the 911 with 2006 5th gen GT premium package Convertible, wife would not drive the 911 enough got tired of it just sitting in the garage for years been 150+ in it more than once, i tried to out run Her in NC in the beemer she Smoked me LOL  .

Passenger - way back in the early 1980's... my cousin had a '71 GTO that had been through alot of stuff and through many owners... pretty beat up, but he put a 455 ci "Rocket Old's" motor in it and a few performance parts. IT was bloody fast... I would guess near 450 - 475 hp.... Riding in that car you could really feel what torque felt like. Could break the rear wheels loose (had posi) at 60 mph on a highway....buried the speedo once - pegged it at 140 mph on one road once... we were pretty stupid in those days!! But the car fell into disrepair... my cousin lost his license a few times ( I can't imagine why a 19 year old with a car like that could lose his license  ) and then an angry ex-girlfriend did some damage with knife and a hammer...... then the car ended up at the scrap yard in the late 1980's. anyway, it was fun while it lasted!

67 427 Corvette Roadster, 4 speed. Red of course with white top and interior. Was something else on those old bias ply tires. It had no power robbing accys, just all engine. Also had an 87 that I used to set the cruise controll at 150 mph with the top down and windows up, air blowing cold and Creedence on the stereo. This one was Silver, and light years ahead of the 67 in everything but brute force.

The funnest thing I ever drove was a M151 jeep when I was in the Marine Corps. Not fast at all but would go almost anywhere you wanted it to go. I also had a 1969 Pontiac Bonaville with a 389 that had 3 duces. It was a beautiful car fender skirts and all. I loved the reverb option that came with the stereo system.

69 Mustang 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 4spd w/ Ram Air hood & the drag pack. 8" wrinkle wall slicks screwed to the rim, 20psi and still could not get it to hookup. But boy what fun trying. 92 T'bird SC 5spd. fast with great handling.

427 Shelby Cobra replica, using too much gas was like driving on ice! My current 260HP Solstice GXP (turbo) convertible isn't in the same class, but is enough fun for me. 5.5sec 0-60 and handles like a go kart. (bad hair day in 1st pic  )

I took my 2005 Mini in for its regular maintenance shot (that's a fancy way to say $500 oil change  ) this weekend. Whenever I go in, they give me a loaner Mini, I've had a bunch of different kinds, this weekend I got a turbocharged convertible. It was hard to see out of and had way too many gee-gaws on the dashboard, I never figured out what they all did, I only figured out how to adjust the mirrors after driving it 30 or 40 miles... My particular supercharged Mini, with its limited slip front differential, is the funnest cage I know of  -Mike
