I have someone who is wanting to buy my bike from the UK.

What is the best means to transfer money.

They want to use Palpal but I have already been burnt on that once.

After doing some more research and finding banks local to where they supposedly were, not to mention having 3 different names on email address vs correspondence name vs paypal account, I found an article which has verbage almost 100% the same as the offer on my bike.

https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Fraud-phishing-and-spoof/Scam/m-p/94661

Sellers beware of the paypal scams and use only direct funds.  Paypal will let the scammer take their money back without you seeing a penny.

If you sell to " ANYONE " you should have cash in hand before it ever leaves the garage...That's my advice and it's free  cooldude

Unfortunately, because of all the scams, the buyer will probably want the merchandise in hand before the cash leaves the bank.
It costs a bit, but a friend uses a local lawyer he'll find in the phonebook, wires him the money to hold untill he gets the stuff, then instructs the lawyer to release the funds.

Please post the emails you've received from the prospective buyer.

THEN we can all let you know if it sounds like a rip off.

When i sold my Valkyrie last year to a guy in Germany, i let my credit union handle the money. They set it up where it went through three accounts and then transfered it to my account. Everything went really smooth.

I sold my Rocket 3 two years ago to a guy in England. Actually he lived in Portugal but he was English & the bike was going to be shipped back to England. At first I was very suspicious of any electronic transfer & after finding out how cumbersome & time consuming any check transaction was going to be I asked my bank {Wachovia} how best to handle it. They said exactly what the buyer had suggested to do. I did not want my main account numbers being given out to any overseas bank so I had a seperate account opened at Wachovia & he electronically transferred the $$ to the new account. 24 hrs later it was verified by MY bank & they transferred the money to our main account.
Simple, safe & clean. AFTER the money was secured I Fed-ex'd the title to a shipping company in south Florida & about 5 days later a truck appeared at my house to take it to the shipping port in Jacksonville.
Clean & easy. You just have to be cooperative with the shipping company & make sure there is less than 1/2 tank of fuel in the bike. Stuff any extra stuff you are selling with the bike in the saddlebags. Do the buyer a favor & make sure the battery is FULLY charged & put some Sta-bil in the gas because the bike will sit in "quarantine" for several weeks in the U.K.!
Don't be scared of an overseas transaction BUT... like ANY money transaction be sure your money is secured before you turn loose of the title or bike. Legit European buyers will have no problem with the process that way.

Bye bye to my baby!! :'(

That's a chromed out "anniversery" V-Rod of some sort that a European sucker I'm sure paid waaaaay too much for already on the roll-back.  Grin Grin Evil
