own a 2000 IS for 6 months. Beautiful, red and black. Stock exhaust with 90 degree turned out tips. I cut the exhaust pigges, can't tell much difference. Thought of drilling the baffels (next step) but worry I will loose the deep low growl. Like the current sound , just hope for a little louder. DO NOT want a tinney sound. What will I get with the next step. Thanks

I drilled the back baffles to 5/8 in if I remember correctly. The sound is a bit louder and still has that growl. I like it. Oh and I ride without earplugs.

if possible, try to find other valk owners near you. listen to what they have to help decide BEFORE drilling or cutting
ruining an exhaust can be pretty expensive. that is "ruining" to YOUR ears nor anybody else's
drilling the rear baffles can be repaired though.........i think.

I have a '99 I/S and I took off the muffler extensions and drilled 5 holes 1/2" in diameter in the backing plate. Sounds good to me. It lowered the tone and did not foul plugs. I did this over 50,000 miles ago. Rick
