My 1500 M. Iron Butt Run

Busted ? Well no. I was going to do an Iron butt run because I'd been doin a lot of riding this year , felt up to it, could use a picture at Sturgis, and the prime reason was to go to Rapid City to look at a 629 S&W Pro Performance 44 Magnum Revolver. I didn't want to kick myself in the rear buy having to Sell my 308 Weatherby Pistol then not liking it as those guns have to be orderd, but Cabelas had one used. One Sweet Dream it is & trigger pull is unbelieveable. The Ride- I had just about had the trip planed and a close Friend the last minute decided to come along and so i scraped the run because I wasn't ready for 2 of us and not enough time to set it up. So just out & back here is how it played out. It was 716m. to Stuigs Musem in 12 1/2hrs. total day run was 768m. Includes going through the Cycle Musem, Cabelas, Eating supper at a truck stop, Having a couple of beers at the Fire House Brewery & getting a nice room for 39 bucks with tidbits for breakfest, getting super bad gas just west of 90 & 35 and running out of gas 156m. 1 city block away from the station. After Passing Chamberlin we hit the Plains winds I bet 40mph. Went from Helmet to stockin hat to hat to nothin then for 60m. Then Tried a dew rag I kept for emg. and that even came off once. Bounced around a lot. By Kadoka The dam pump did not shut off and lost a gallon on the bike, boy was I pissed and made them get me a water hose to flush off the bike. Speed was pretty darn close to posted limitsLittle over & some under. Two potty breaks at ststions. Day 2 - I think we left about 830 our time, rode 701m. to get home at 105 am. Includes off the beaten path. Rapids 90 - 47 - 34 - 23 - 14 - then oops and ended up at Henderson Mn. which was another opps in the dark. Bridge out and maybe another to the south where we could go 4 milies south and try to cross again so tried to circle around town and another road block. We cousiouly went down a steep hill to see if we could get to the road and had to turn around on the hill because the water was half way up to the bottom of the stop sign or hair more. so we had to come up with another plan between buds gps & my hunting lorance gps. we got to 5 then 494 -94 - 29 -Home. Includes a musem stop, a short beer stop Them Harley boys got a hard time to make it with out a beer. No stoppin at Cabelas in Owatona, Mc donalds stop and heavy clothing again, a stop in Menominie wi for a couple of last beers. yesterday took the wife out and it took my eyes 1/2 day to open up. Saddle sore H no. Day 2 I lost my total miles on trip one so I used my streets and trips prograhm which is one used to verify milage for the Iron Butt Run and matched it to day 1 and it actually gave me 3m more so I used it for milage for day 2.

Man, sounds like a good time. I got some bad gas at a BP along I90 in July. Real bad, as was my son's tank he bought at the same time.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Thats why I never take I-90 in SD anymore. To dam windy. I wore a flat spot on the left side of my front tire due to the winds for 250 miles. Rounded it out in the Hills later on. Plus I can go fast on the secondary roads.
