On Ebay I just picked up a removable trunk from a GL110 I/S and a "new condition" mounting rack for it. The trunk is 25"wide x 13"deep x 12" high, plenty big for travel. The reason for the 1100 trunk is it's the last years Honda made their trunks without the backrest hump in the lid...the 1100's are flat. The underneath side has a method of snapping/locking it into place on the mounting rack. The mount for it has a lock on both sides so I can just lift it off and take it in the hotel with me like a suitcase. A local friend has a bike shop and he's going to help adapt the mounting rack to the Valk in such a way as to have a quick removal. Don't need it for anything but travel. Once the mount is finished and the trunk repainted, I plan to remove the wheels and extendable handle from one of our old suitcases and mount them on the trunk. Should be an interesting project for the next few months.

I was thinking about trying to do something similar to my Tourer, but never got past how to be able to open the trunk if the sissy bar is still there to provide back support for my wife. Does the 1100 trunk open sideways so that is not an issue?

Make sure you do some photos for the rest of us to see
how you did it so we can do the same thing.

I like it. Re. your question about the trunk, no...it opens like most trunks as opposed to the HD trunks which are sideways. In my case, I ride solo so the back seat and sissy bar haven't been on the bike in years so a forward opening trunk isn't a problem. I would have preferred a HD tour pack but they're too proud of them...even the used and banged up ones. So far I have I only have $165 in both parts plus shipping.

Not a problem Daniel. It appears the Aspecade and the I/S versions had different sized trunks. At least the p/n is different according to the fiche.
