Dad rode it with a group this weekend. They had a great ride. He said on the VA end all they met were motorcycles so the waving was exhausting. Near Asheville in NC he had to watch out for the campers in the tunnels. The campers were going down the middle of the tunnels pushing the motorcycles over against the wall. Otherwise he had a great ride.

Hey Robin,

We are heading out on Thursday too, straight down the BRP, leaving Winchester VA in the AM. Not sure when you plan on hitting the parkway, but we may be able to hook up.
When do you plan on leaving NJ?

I will send you a PM with my number, we can talk, maybe we can hook up here or if you'd like to swing in early and spend the night before.

Robin,  I plan on getting on the southern end Friday morning and riding north as far as I can and get back to Knoxville by dark.  I will let you know if I encounter any troubles.

Y'all keep in mind The Blue Ridge Parkway is always 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the rest of the area even when its 100 degrees here. Weather right now is as my friend THE Detn8er called it today when we talked on the phone....We could ride this weekend in flip-flops and t-shirts  Smiley  I'm hoping this beautiful weather holds out for us on the 15th 16th 17th.

Hey Joe,

How the weather affects you depends on the gear you wear, it has not been flip flop and t-shirt weather here as of late but for that I have gear, so BRP we are comming.
Petra and I rode in 13 degree weather in Germany and had a blast, went to the MC show and got our admission free ($35 value), all the guy said is you guys are the only two crazy MF's that rode and that deserves free admission, 3' of snow on both sides of the road and sunshine. It was great. So it all depends on your gear...
We plan to make it at least partway into NC before we stop on Thursday.

Robin,  I didn't get up the Parkway as far as I had intended, but what we did ride was fabulous.  We started in Cherokee at the southern end and rode up to almost Asheville, NC.  The road was in great shape and traffic was surprisingly light.  We came home via westbound I-40 and that was a big mistake.  The westbound lane was necked down due to continued work on a rock wall and it took us about 3 hours to make it back to Knoxville.  The trees are just beginning to change and the ranger we talked to was looking for a beautiful display next weekend.  Call me sometime, Robin, I need to talk to you about someting.  I will send you a PM with my cell #.  Have a safe trip down.
