As I was riding home from Ft. Worth this afternoon as I was passing the Hwy 19 exit at Canton I rolled over 10k on my bike. I thought well it's time for the 10k maintenance

and then I remembered that at 6k the 10k was done back in Feb.

Over a year ago I knew that my next bike was going to be a Valkyrie. I started seriously shopping in May of this yr. I wanted a black one and really didn't care what kind. I didn't have a lot of money to spend so a nice I/S was a little out of my price range. I was shopping on Ebay and bid on a few and got outbid.

I then decided to go out on a limb and go with red and black.

Got outbid on an awesome I/S in New York.

Kept shopping for another month and this blue and silver I/S came up for bid. I looked and said not really my color but it was an awesome bike with lots of extras and only 6300 miles. Starting bid $9999.00. Hmmm. I said. I would look at it everyday to see if there were any bids. and I thought if no one bids on it I think I might. With less than 24 hrs. left on it someone placed a bid.

Not a big deal I had already spotted another red and black.

About 4hrs before the bidding ended on the blue one I looked at the bike again and read all the bling that was added and I said to myself, Self thats a damn pretty bike. ??? Just off the top of my head I added up about $5k in upgrades. You, fool bid on this thing and I did.

1st bid $10.5k. outbid

2nd bid $11k outbid

3rd bid $11.5k High bidder

2 hrs left and my heart started pumping.

What have I done?

I just bid on a bike that the colors I originally didn't want and out of my price range.

An hour later I'm outbid!!. Now what? I had shown the bike to my wife earlier in the day and she said "cool" allright! 'whatever'

I went and told my wife that I was going to let the bike go that it was getting out of my price range. 15 min. left on bidding my wife says let me look at the bike again. She looked at it a couple of minutes and looked at me and said I quote "you buy that bike no matter what" I love my wife

With my finger shaking I pecked in $13.5. "High Bidder!!"

and kept my finger on the mouse as the time ticked down ready to see pounce if outbid.

See I was still limiting myself and really didn't expect to get the bike at that price. Time ran out and I won the bike for $12.5.

To shorten this story I just knew now that I was going to ride a plane to Tampa and fly a Valkyrie home.

I got to Tampa on the 3rd of July at about noon and was picked up by the soon to be "previous" owner. He took me to his house and before he opened up the custom made storage building for it he took me in his house for a little pre Valk talk. ??? He brought out 2 folders. One with before and after pics and one with receipts. He bought the bike in Feb., with 6k miles, his 3rd Valk one being a Rune, and was going to fix it up just the way he wanted it to be. He showed me the b and a pics and then the detailed receipts totalling $17,000.

WTH I asked the guy , WHY? He told me a quick little story of having money to spend, a little obsession, and then his business failing and just a few unforeseen circumstances and he had to have some fast cash. I felt for the guy. He paid $10.5 for the bike so he was into it for over $27k. This guy was an

from heaven.

He then took me to the shed and opened the door. It was the most beautiful bike I had ever seen.

He then spent the next 2 hrs. before we even put the key in it showing me everything a man would ever need to know about a Valkyrie and more and also every new part and upgrade he had done in the last 6 months. He had only ridden it 300 miles. He only listed a small portion of what he had done to the bike on Ebay or I would not have gotten it. Allright to shorten the story a little more I took my time riding the 998 miles home. and now in 3 months I have ridden it 3700 miles. Shortening the story more and back to the 10k maintenance thing, I'm sure glad thats already done because its really hard to do those things cruising at highway speed.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it! If I ever figure out how to put up pics on here I will show it to you.
